2008

Overall, 2008 ended on a great note for us. Despite some ups and downs during the course of the season, we finished with a playoff berth. As a professional athlete, that is really what matters the most. In football, we play 16 games each to determine the best 6 in each conference. That's where we are right now. Hopefully, we are a long way from being finished.

For me professionally, there were also some great things that happened. I proud that I played all 16 games, set the franchise record for passing yards, and led my team to the playoffs. I'm honored that I played long enough for the Philadelphia Eagles that I now hold all the major passing marks in franchise history. You don't get there without the support of great teammates and coaches.

Personally, the year couldn't have been better. I don't talk much publically about my personal life, but many people already know that my wife and I had twins a few weeks ago. Although born premature, they are home with us and doing very well. Thanks to all who sent cards and prayers.

What's really great to know is that 2009 promises to be even better. I'm excited about the future!

I don't think I've ever seen such a great afternoon of football as this past Sunday. Getting the help needed and then seeing you guys go out and dominate the Cowboys, it just couldn't have gone any better. I'm looking forward to a great few weeks ahead and hoping to see the Eagles' play 4 more games this season.

Dmac your the motha f-n man! These last 5 games defined you as a player. You had you're back up against the wall while everyone was doubting you and talking trash and you delivered! I want nothing more than to see you and Dawk holding up the Lombardi Trophy. I beleive you and Dawk are the best thing to ever happen to this franchise and i think it's bullsh!t the things that you've had to put up with. I'm telling you right now no matter what it seems like at times there are much more fans that love you than hate you, but for some reason the haters voices are the ones who get heard. Keep it going Super 5ive I can't wait for Sunday!!!

And way to slap Romo upside the head after the game! hahaha

Remember D-Mac, just because your parents ground you for doing poorly in school or for messing up in some other way, doesn't mean they don't love you. They love you very much! Think of Philly Phans as having that much passion and love for the game and for you. When they berate you, its really out of love.

I have to admit, when I saw your press conference after the game, I felt kind of down. You really seem to believe most people DON'T like or support you, and that just isn't the case. Most of us want you back in Philly. That being said, GREAT game against the Cowboys. I couldn't have asked for a better Chrismas present!!! I'm just sad that I'm gonna have to miss the game on Sunday since I'm leaving the country that day for a week. But I'll be checking every airport TV and Internet site I can. Don. Can't say how spectacular my Sunday turned out to be. Not only were all us Eagles fans treated to a late Christmas present with losses by the Bucs and Bears and one hell of a win by you guys over the Doughboys. I also see it as an early birthday present as the game fell a day before and I must say, I really couldn't have asked for anything more. How did all you guys know that a playoff berth was what I wanted? haha. Anyway. Glad to hear that you're ready to go for the long backstretch toward Tampa! And I hope the rumors stating that you expect an extension from the Birds is true cause as I've been saying on here for months now, I don't want to see you go anywhere else. Good luck man!

had the privelge of being at the game on Sunday and WHAT A DAY!!!!!!. / It is always good to see good things happen to good people. Hope you are in Philly for another 10 years as the eagles wouldn't be the same without you. always know you are loved, not only for your play but for the stand-up person you are. You probably don't remember, but you had my son Chad, as a guest at your clinic for 2 years. Chad is a handicapped boy in a wheelchair and you made his day by being so kind. Super 5, you are the man and I never lost hope. It got rough, but I said that we would make the playoffs by 1/2 a game and that's what we did. I'm looking forward to this weekend. I have always supported you at QB for the Eagles. But the season hasnt ended on a great note. A great note is when you get the ring you deserve and the team plays for four games at the highest possible level with nothing else to leave on the field. Step up and be the leader that everyone knows you are. This isnt for Reid but for the fans and players. Its long overdue. You are long overdue. The time is now.

Unfortunately, your "success" this year will be defined by how you do in the playoffs. Just making the playoffs in Philly won't cut it. While I feel like we are playing with house money in the playoffs (did anyone seriously wake up Sunday morning and think we'd end it with a playoff birth?), the fact that we are there now... we must continue to win.

We have a chance to beat an ex-Eagles coach in Brad Childress and then take on the hated Giants and face another ex-coach (Spags), and then perhaps take on the team who's 1st round pick next year we have possession of. We can help ourselves out and end their season earlier and get a higher pick! haha

Congrats ur you twin babies, they are God's gift & blessing to you! I'm an active duty Army Soldier born & raised in Fort Smith, AR but have always been an Eagle fan, before you got to Philly and still am while u been in Philly and I have ALWAYS supported Donovan McNabb DESPITE good or bad games, doesn't matter. Disappointment comes in all shapes, sizes and forms but regardless of whether you have been successful or have met with failure during your 10 years in Philadelphia, not ONCE have I ever blasted, ripped, ridiculed or turned my back on you and I never will even if the Eagles fail to reach the Superbowl this year. Doesn't matter to me either way, its just a game and life goes on BUT I will always be a fan of Super 5 no matter what! Best wishes this Sunday for you AND Brian Dawkins and the entire team! Donovan- Getting into the playoffs is not good enough. You know this. Time to step up your game for the playoffs. Extend drives with your ability to escape pressure and do not be afraid to convert third downs with your legs if needed. Keep the chains moving and that will keep our defense fresh. All the Critics can now Shut up because they cant say Mcnabb cant do well under pressure because he has proved it week in and week out when a slump hits he gets back up when its a good streak he is on a roll no matter what.... And what better way of proving the critics wrong by Helping his Team Dismantle the Cowboys a Team that wouldnt lose like that especially to a divisional Rival with a playoff berth on the line... Eagles proved they are still the top team in the NFC East no matter who is the SB champ Giants or the best team in the NFC East.... Once there in they are automatically Considered Dangerous.... Secret Weapon is BuckHalter i dont think for these next few games we will focus on the pass unless it is needed and the way they played off that formation was PERFECTION Vintage EAGLES..... an look what it got them 59 yards passing down the middle on a supposed revamped defense that dallas didnt have... I didnt expect the lopsided victory not saying they arent capable of doing so just that you wouldnt expect such a let down non fighting spirit from the Cowboys..... they proved they were a Bust team and that All the Talent in the World dont mean Jack unless you know how to play as a team.... and realizing it even though we all would like bigger backs or WR or a better TE we have done Good with what we have for lack of stars that other teams have and yet our team has a playoff spot an has a better record than those STarstudded teams except the Patriots but they arent in the playoffs so HAHA....

Donovan - Thank you for being OUR quarterback. You hold all those records because you are one of the elite players in the game. That you did so with a wide receiver corp that rarely had a star is even more amazing. Your TD to INT ration is unporcedented. People complain about the throws in the dirt, but that is why you are picked off so rarely - you put the ball where usually only the receiver has a chance.

I was born in the last year the Eagles won a championship and have been waiting my whole life. Since you started, watching the Eagles has been less painful an experience.

Keep up the good work. Don't let Andy make you carry the team. All parts have to work for us to consistently win.

Congratulations on the twins, my family and I wish you and yours well, now and always.

Looks like Tony Homo proved once again how much of a chokeartist he is. This guy cannot perform well under pressure. Oh well. Looks like him n the rest of those Cowgurlz(with one crybaby hoe, we all know who that is...) will have to watch us hopefully beat Minnesota.

Sadly, this will be the last full season of NFL Football I will watch for atleast 2 years. I say this because College is n has been much more exciting for me over the last few weeks. McCoy n Shipley from Texas(HOOK 'EM!!!!!!!!)...once they both get there, I'll start fully paying attention again.

Until then, good luck over the next few years. And while you are one of my fav. players(at one point, my fav. QB ever), you are still up there...but my fav. QB of all-time currently is Tennessee's Vince Young.

HEY 5... THANK YOU for making lasts weeks game the most enjoyable game in years and years, I am still on a high from watching it. I asked you to start running more about 3 or 4 weeks ago and you have, see what is starting to happen. They now have to watch you and that in turn gives the receivers a better chance to get open. There linebackers can't just fade back in coverage now... One more thing will help and that is to roll out a little more so you can run or pass. Anyway, LOVE YA MAN, keep up the great job and please come back again next year. Cobb is just not ready. Oh yea, one more thing, what happen to runing the draw inside the 5 yard line with you running the ball. That worked really well.... PHILLIES AND EAGLES WORLD CHAMPIONS IN THE SAME YEAR.... Congratulations on your twins! I hope they are happy and healthy. Thanks for a great game and a great year! I can't imagine a better way to end the season. It doesn't get any better than knocking the Cowboys out of the playoffs and making the post season in the same day. I've been an Eagles fan for a long time and I still remember when just beating the Cowboy was considered a successful season. With the way this team has been playing lately, the Eagles have certainly raised those expectations from years past. The Eagles definitely have a great chance of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at the end of this season. I just hope the coaching staff sticks to a balanced offense and an aggressive defense. Keep in mind that the vast majority of fans do support and believe in you and your team. Unfortunately, the critics are always the loudest. Good Luck in the playoffs! Beat Minnesota! Go Eagles!

Dmac, after you win a big game please stop acting like you have to throw success in people's faces. You don't need to prove anything anymore, the real fans know your the best QB in franchise history. You received more votes than all the other QB's combined for the 75th Anniv team. The true fans know the deal, we didn't "spit" on you or "boo" you....Remember That!!! It's definitely frustrating to the fans who have backed you from day one to hear you speak like that after the teams biggest margin of victory over Dallas. Keep fightin and at some point mention your fans and screw the hatters, they get way too much pub!!!

I belive you are the best thing that has happened to this franchise and would hate to see you go. Now I am a die hard eagles fan but I would lose alot of respect for this eagles franchise. Never take the boos personally. Some Eagles are Eagles only when they wear the uniform. Others stay Eagles for many years after they hang it up. But Eagle fans - are fans forever. We see players come and go, some more worthy than others. We make our mark every Sunday for YEARS longer than any one player. We are passionate - You would be hard pressed to find a REAL fan who would not back you 100%.
To date - YOU are among the greatest EAGLES to ever don the Green and Silver - I thank you for a great '08 and am looking forward an even better 2009. Stay true Don.

Hey Eagles fans up to Saturday you all wanted Donovan gone forever and now he is great. Everyone I work with has wanted to fire everybody for the past few weeks and now nobody has done any wrong. Just like Philly fans, in april their were no Phillies fans and now every one in Philly has been a Phillies fan for 50 years. You front running Philly fans suck. Hey Don,........Congrats on the twins..........Been an eagles fan all my life.........Most of the bashing you are recieving is from eagle bandwagon jumpers...........Personally, I think they can just jump off!!!...........Real fans go through the good and the bad times......No REAL eagles fan wants you to go anywhere!!!.....My whole family are fans of the eagles.....My oldest sons bedroom is done up with Memoribilia from training camp in lehigh......His favorite autographed picture is the one you signed after he called you over from the parking lot after practice.......you drove over from the paring lot to the islands of grass outside the parking lot.......Of course we got mobbed.......But the thing that stood out to him most was that you told everyone that you would sign for everyone ,but little man was to get his stuff signed first......Just straight class!!!......I guess what i'm saying is,True fans will stay with you through thick and thin.....p.s. Great game today,and let all the players know that we are rooting for u to go to the SUPER BOWL!!!.......One game at a time ,O'course.....

I just wanted to echo the sentiment of 99% of Eagles fans who know that you are the one of the best if not THE best quaterback we have ever had. (Certainly in My 37 years)....... I don't know why tools like Dion Sanders, and all the others say that Philadelphia fans hate, or don't want you in Philly. I can't stand how they always report on the 1% instead of the 99%.
Us Eagles fans are not the Dirty Thirty that were at draft day. We are not all ShoulderPad Sean!

This is the first time Ive looked at your blog....Boy us fans look fickle...when things go bad for you it sure looks like we go into an attack mode...when things go good we are back on the wagon.
I just hope you know that Most of the fans love you and wish you well. I just wish you could include the fans in some of the post game interviews. We like to feel like part of the team...Like we matter...like the team plays for us "the fans". Do not judge us all by the actions of a few.

Well, as a die hard Cowboy fan its tough right now, but I have to give congratulations to the Eagles. Donavan, Westbrook, Andy Reed and the whole team have done what looked impossible. Beating the Cowboys was not that tough, getting Tampa to lose at home to Oakland was a real long shot. My second favorite team is the Vikings because I grew up in Minnesota, and you had to beat them to. Dam you guy's, have a heart!!!

But what i am really writing to you about is i have a 14 month old daughter who has a very rare chronic disorder and we are in a big hardship right now with money since i lost my job from her being in the hospital.. we go to philly childrens hospital 2 times a month for treatments and we are currently getting things around for a chinese auction to help us ou and i was wondering if you could send a few autographed pictures and if maybe you could get a few of the guys to send some also.. like westbrooke or dawk.. we could really use the help to auction off some of the pics cause you are a fan favorite where i am from. well my name is shaun and i live in danville pa and my address is 261 liberty st. I am happy that this year has worked out in the sense that you have yet another Playoff Win in your pocket (hopefully you'll get 3 more).
