It's Time
Nothing against the Labor Day holiday but I couldn't wait for it to be over. I have always been, I am, and I will always be a football fan. I loved the start of college football this past weekend. And, I'm even more excited about the start of the NFL regular season this weekend. Like the start of a race, you get into the blocks, and anticipate the starting gun. It's important to get off to a good start because you want to be out front setting the pace as opposed to chasing the leader. That's the goal - start fast, finish strong. That holds true in racing and in football - both game by game and for the season as well. I know it sounds cliche but my concern and that of my team is on the St. Louis Rams. We need to get off to an early lead and we have to try to build on that. It's important that we take that kind of business approach. Hopefully by games end, we have a chance to briefly celebrate a victory before moving on to the next opponent. On a sad note, the part about this time of year that I don't like is the roster cuts. Fortunately for many of the players who do not make their team's final rosters they have the ability to make a practice squad or are picked up by another team. For the majority of the 27 players cut from each team, it's the end of the road. It's a tough business and this remains the ugly part of it. The players we released gave great effort and helped us become a better team. Two in particular - Jason Davis and Michael Gasperson - have been around here a while. I have seen them train and get better each year. They came out and worked with me in Arizona and I know that their abilities should find them a place in the NFL.

I'm like you Donovan - couldn't wait to see some game action on Saturday. We already have some ranked teams getting beat (how about UCLA shaking off all of those first half picks to beat Tennessee?) I didn't get to watch, but good to see my Nittany Lions spank somebody like they did. I don't know if you watched, but the sportscasters mentioned your name a lot during the Illinois game....not sure if they were making comparisons or something else, but you were mentioned a lot with Juice Williams's name.
Anyway, good luck in week one....have some fun and get the job done!

This Eagles team is loaded on both sides of the ball, but you'll never hear that from the "guru's" and "experts". It's funny to me that totally ignored in the whole "analysis" of the Eagles' offense by most stations/shows, etc, is the fact that for the majority of your career here in Philly D-Mac, you have moved the ball methodically, using whoever has a green jersey on to your advantage. You have the most versatile RB in the league behind you, a stud TE who's finally 100% again, and a WR corp that is injured, but honestly very deep. Jason Avant gets no hype and he played in the big house and was a main target there. Reggie Brown needs to get that leg right, but when healthy he can do it all. This Desean Jackson kid is the real deal, real talent. I'm sure the coachng staff and yourself have been working with him to fine-tune his abilities, especially now that Kevin is down. And the O-Line... well... the O-Line is HUGE and talented across the board.
Our Defense is ridiculous and I cant wait to see our nickel and dime coverage sacks.
Do your thing baby. The best is yet to come and true Philly fans know that.
Peace

I'm trying not to get too confident from this one - listening to Tony Siragusa made it seem like the Rams weren't even trying - but at least we know (or should I say confirmed) what our team is capable of.
Now........on to the Cowboys on Monday Night! I'm ready for that game now!!!!!!
