Keep Building Momentum

This week is eerily reminiscent of our first trip to the NFC Championship Game in 2001.. In order to get there then, we had to beat Chicago on the road in very frigid conditions. This time, we had to go to NY and defeat the Giants in very cold weather. Like the last time, this week we will be playing on the road, in a dome, against Kurt Warner and his high-powered offense.

Make no mistake, the Cardinals are a solid football team in all three phases. I know our supporters want to discount their abilities based on the Thanksgiving Day game but they shouldn't -- the Cardinals had to travel here on a short week. I believe we have what it takes to match up with them but we will have to play our best football. If we learned anything from our previous playoff runs it's that we cannot let up and must play at a higher level each and every week.

I hope all Eagles fans help us build our momentum each day so that we all reach a peak on Sunday. I hope a few of you can be there to join us!

    It's nice to see Donovan having fun playing the game. Whether he's smiling, dancing or catching errant passes on the sideline or answering telephones it's awesome to watch. He just loves playing the game.

I find it funny that he is pro-McNabb all of a sudden when last year during NBA All-Star weekend, he was taking pictures with people left and right in the hotel lobby, but wouldn't take pictures with my friends. Did I mention we had on McNabb jerseys? He said, and I quote, "I don't want to" when my friend asked for pictures with him. But he offered to shakes everyone's hand. WTH? Even T.O., believe it or not, was gracious enough to takes pictures with everyone until his bodyguard intervened. ANYWAY...let's crash the Cardinals party and bring home the George Halas trophy!

Just remember out there Donovan that the true fans love what you've brought to this city. We sometimes can be short fused, but there is not a single fan out there that would trade the past 10 years for any other decade in Eagles history. The Cardinals are formidable opponents but they are no match for destiny. Philadelphia doesn't embrace wins without a back story. Remember, "it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You guys have gone through it all now it is time for the icing on the cake and put this team in where it has always belonged in a Championship conversation. One more thing Donovan you and Andy Reid B-dawk etc... are the reason we have had something to look forward to for the last 10 plus years whether good or bad I would not trade you guys as a whole for anything. The Eagles are playing very well on defense, but the past two games were against teams without prolific passing games. It was huge the best receiver in football (Burress) was not playing. Jackson for the Vikings is no McNabb. The Cardinals, on the other hand, have an exceptional combo in Fitzgerald and Warner. You have to put two men on Larry and that opens up their running game. The Cardinals get to play at home too. The Eagles will have to score some points to get back to the Superbowl. I am glad the Eagles are healthy at receiver with Curtis and Jackson. This should be an exciting game.

    I remember last year on YB quite a few Eagle fans were pressing for the FA to make a trade for Fitzgerald! I for one think he is one of the best receiver in the NFL.     Remember last years NFC championship game vs the Packers? Plaxico dominated the game. I am a Pats fan and his last minute catch killed us in the SB. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism allow him to dominate a game. I agree that Fitzgerald is a great receiver, but lets see if he comes through this weekend and at the SB if they make it.

Great game on Sunday against the Giants Donovan. You did what everything you had to do on Sunday and got the Eagles to where they are going next. Back to the NFC Championship game. To be completely honest...i don't believe he reads these blogs anymore. I personally don't believe he hears the people that have had his back when he got benched to before that. I don't know if anybody caught the interview with him, dieon sanders, and rich somethin or other but he obviously does not like Philly fans right now. If any single Eagles fan decides to talk shi* on Don you can shut your mouth because you are the reasons why we don't get nice things. This is don's fifth time in an NFC championship and he probably hates being in Philly now...thanks to the pieces of crap that try and call themselves Eagle's fans. Its okay to be upset with your team and criticize members of a team but to try and blame one person for whole seasons. As much as I love Donovon Mcnabb, I truly think that if he left Philly, it would be exactly what we deserve. I've never commented on here. First, I'll state the obvious: You played awesome against the Giants, especially in the 2nd half. I am your average Eagles fan (I don't live in Philly though), and I hope you're an Eagle until you decide to call it quits. I agree with the comments above reagrding the true Philly fans. There is no doubt that the most vocal and consistently brought to the forefront by the media are the naysayers. Those are the true idots in Philly and in the media becuase they love to stir is up. Deion needs to back off and stop magnifying what he and the rest of the media latch on to. That is the opinion of a few just because they are loud. I know you are the best thing that has happened to this franchise in many years and we hope your reign keeps going. Good luck in the game. Cardinals? You're right - it's hard for us fans to respect what they supposedly bring to the table. Obviously, you have to play the game - Carolina couldn't win by simply showing up. But still....too hard to get worried about this one after Dallas in week 17 and the Giants in the last round.

I already have us in the SB. My big question - who do we want to meet there? We already beat Pitt, Baltimore's D was crazy scary when we played. I probably shouldn't look ahead, but I'm already worried about the next one.

this has been all a dream for me ... to get this far is beyond my belief. but, getting to the ultimate prize in football... i would be unable to put that in words. week 16 i was thinking, maybe one day ill be cheering for the eagles at this point in the playoffs. maybe one day, the eagles will have their shot at fame and glory. here it is, its all or nothing now, nfc championship would just be another let down. come on dnabb, win one for the vets, for my boy dawk, for yourself and for the city of brotherly love. this is our year.

I've been an Eagle faithful since the Buddy Ryan era. I was one of the few that enjoyed watching your draft selection than Ricky Williams...only because a running back can't support a team like a great QB can. I'm thrilled at where we are now, but my major concern is next year. Some say that you and Reid may not come back and that Brian Dawkins might not be back as well. Win or lose, the fans should unite to support OUR team, but please be straight with us. Tell us what you envision for the future. And good luck against the Cards. I have no doubt that the Eagles will pull through and be a class act at the Super Bowl.

As a life-long Eagles fan, I want u to know that you have been the best thing to happen to this team. I know there is a lot of controversy swirling around you, Big Red, and some vocal nay sayers. I'm sure u realize that most Eagles fans don't feel that way. The press just jumps on the controversy. No one wants to hear about the good things this cohesive team does, that wouldn't sell copy.(That's wht T.O. gets so much press. Every one wants to hear him whine and complain. It's like a freak show!) No matter what happens this season, respect is given for u guys going to the Meadowlands and earning that win. Awesome! Nevermind what u did to Dallas, fogeddaboudit! (sure did quiet down all the bandwagon Dallas fans in my office)

Fly, McNabb, Fly, on the road to victory, and a ring you so richly deserve!!!! If we're fortunate enough to win it all, I will be crying for joy, for making a reality something I've dreamed about for more than 30 years. Not too long before your arrival with the Eagles we'd had a good run with Randall Cunningham, Reggie White, Keith Byars, Clyde Simmons and that whole great gang, yet I'll always feel some lament about that squad, because they were good enough to win it all, but underachieved. (Even most of the players from then realize that -- many signed one-day contracts so they could retire as Eagles, even guys like Byars and Seth Joyner who went to Super Bowls with other teams.)
Looking ahead to Sunday, I'm glad the Cards played Carolina first to jolt us into knowing that they're not a team that's "just happy to be there" in the playoffs, but one that could kick our asses if we aren't ready. We still may not have the greatest receivers in the league but as a corps it's the best you've had with the Eagles. I hope Avant and Curtis will be healthy for you on Sunday, and you keep finding ways to get Celek the ball. I think you'll get the protection you need and you'll have a great day!

Five Cowboys made the list of the top 20 jersey sellers in the NFL this season. No other team had more than two. Brett Favre's No. 4 was No. 1 (Jets) and No. 13 (Packers).

When the team is doing well, everyone comes out of their dark, holes and cheers them on and supports the team by buying jerseys. However, when they are doing bad, or in turmoil like while Romo was out hurt, the fans turn their backs and go scurrying back into their holes (just like cockroaches when the lights are turned on). How many Cowboy fans this year had a Troy Aikman jersey or Emmitt SMith??? Not too many, that's because they are all NEW fairweather fans that hop on the newest Cowboy's bandwagon. Look at Eagle's fans... how many do you see wearing Jeome Brown, Reggie White, Randa Cunningham, and even the new players lke Desean Jackson. An Eagles fan is something that is bred into you from such a young age, its past on from generation to generation... we're not fairweather fans... we're FAMILY! How do you like watching the playoffs? Doesn't make much sense to wear those Cowboy jersey's now that there's no Cowboy games, does it? What a waste!

i've always been a fan of the eagles, although many Vikings fans have criticized me. i've always believed in the eagles, even with the tie with the Bengals. i rooted for you guys all season long, and you guys have pulled off upsets along the way. the blowout win against the 'boys was AWESOME. GREAT job for taking care of business here in MN, and for taking out the giants in their stadium. i'm sure you guys'll make it three for three (on the road) in the playoffs and go to the SB. The way you stood tall, waited, waited, avoided Tuck and the pass rush and then delivered that ball was the diifference between you and Eli this past Sunday. I like what I am hearing from you and the rest of the team. It sounds like you guys have your eye on the prize. u are the man donnie mac. i have been behind u from day one.. some of my friends whom are also eagles fans were callin for ur head, and i stood up to them for u. i think u are the best qb behind tom brady. its hard to argue that u are better even though i feel u are.. he has won the big one.. so if u go out and bring home the title to philly u will move ahead of him for the ish u had to deal with being in philly.. i love my city and i love my teams. the eagles are on the top of the list.. i played football my whole life and only stopped to pursue a career, but i can say that i know football in and out and u are the best our city has ever had and will ever have.. u deserve nothing but the best.. keep ur head up and know that most of us still love u and want u on our team til the end.. go super5 u are my idol.. So it comes down to the Cardinals... Unbelievable to me being that they were the doormat of the NFC East for two decades. I vividly remember that 2002 game in which you tossed 4 TD's on a broken ankle at the Vet against them. You have a habit of 4 TD games against AZ, how about another one DMac?

I have the utmost confidence in you and the guys this week. Yes, the Giants game was a great win, but it was simply another step towards that elusive goal. You know what I'm talking about. Every true Eagle fan loves you Donovan, you are the engine that makes this team go. Everything else will take care of itself if you just go out there and do what you do best- WIN.

i wanted to say that i as an eagle fan for life recognize who the best playerin franchise history is. that is #5. people who are trying to run him out of town are crazy. everytime he puts on his game jersey for 10+ years we have a good chance to win the game. he struggled at times during the season, but which one of us hasn't in our daily lives. no matter how much money you get paid. when your fam is going through tough times, so are you. #5 stayed strong and focused and that is why we have a chance to go to the superbowl. this team go's as #5 go's. westbrook is the man but stop saying this is his team.#5 is the leader in victory and in defeat. people we need to give this man the respect he's earned. not just as a player but as a man. he's been attacked in every way possible. and everytime he holds his head high and takes a higher road. i'm 4 years older than him and i could use a little of what he has in my everday life. respect do #5

Just wanted to say how proud I am of the 2008 version of the Philadelphia Eagles. To have an up-and-down season riddled with injuries, inconsistent play, questionable play-calling, and a tough schedule overall... this team has overcome it all. Good luck with Arizona and if all goes well there, I'll see you down in Tampa!

I went to the Super Bowl in 2004 in Jacksonville and left the game down and almost out. Hopefully it's a different finish this year. GOOD LUCK BIRDS!!!

Always liked your demeanor in the sidelines - your effort shows how seriously you take your job, yet you still manage to smile and enjoy yourself. You seem to be one of the few players who still remembers that after all is said and done, it's still only a game and it should be fun. I'd also like the Eagles to win it all for one of our co-workers. She's Omar Gaither's mom so it would be nice if her boy got a SB ring to show us next time he's in town.

i've been a fan for 30 years, never wanted to be any other fan of any team. Even at the lowest of lows, just like our quarterback. I admit at times i am a bad fan from frustration. But this year has showed me why i am an eagles fan, when down and out, we never give up. The past decade has been the best years of eagle football thank to a good coach and a team with heart. I only hope that when you guys, my team, hits the field. As dawk says leave it all out on the field. We need to stop all the people that dont believe, and win this championship!!

You are on track. The offense is still stalling and your defense can be thanked for carrying you this far. Buckhalter is averaging 4.9 per carry. Use him. Where's Booker? Use him. Use Klecko. Even if they don't get immediate results. Use them. At least the Cards will have to work that into their defensive scheme. Free up from them teeing off on Westbrook all the time. Stalling in the red zone still? Fire for the end zone from outside the zone. Defense, you are perfect. Get to Warner and pop him a couple of times and the picks and fumbles will come. Don't get me wrong Warner is a stud. I love the guy and what he has done. Get to him and you can worry less about a double team on Boldin and Fitzgerald. Don't do any trick plays. Good solid fundamental ball. Mix it up. Reid drafted or signed these players and the idiot doesn't ever use them. It's our time. Frankly, I waited and supported the Eagles for over 30 years. It's our time. As it is we should have never lost to the Pats in our last appearance. Looking back, this should be at least our third ring in 10 years. Andy Reid sucks! I don't care if we do win it all. I still say that he has to go and I will never change my mind. Good luck and go get that ring!

Enjoy your phillies world series cause it's gonna be another 28 years before they win again. If the eagles are such a great team why did they need Chicago to lose to Houston and of all things Tampa to lose at home to Oakland. You know the eagles will give it there all and beat the cardinals cuz what is expecting of them is a bye week before the Big Dance (SB) so resting Westbrook and runyan will be key especially when he will rest even more that whole week after... And know for a Fact that andy reid wont make the mistake of passing will he be tempted yes he will but i expect screen passes because u cant matchup any LB against our RB and we all know arizona dont have LBs like NY and Minn had an westbrook knows he will have more success against Arizona because there defense isnt strong and westbrook is bound to explode you know he is he dont like to be limited and yes we got great special teams..... go eagles i dont want to give a prediction it will be close but i wouldnt be surprised if they dont score( Arizona) more than 16 points in this game... Donovan I heard the interview between you and Deon, it was very funny and i wouldn't blame you if you hated us eagle fans. Big Blue....honestly. The Giants were in the same position just a year ago. If you want to sit there and compare teams...you can. The better team in that game was the Eagles. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, does not matter. You're obviously of lower intelligence considering you had nothing interesting to say other than blatant insults towards not just a team, but its fans, its city, and a horse that came from philly. donovan mcnabb is my favorite QB and offensive player in the league and when ever he has bad games i dont get mad because in my heart i always know hes gonna bounce back and have a great game i have bin a EAGLES fan for a long time and i have bin watching him since his rookie year and hes bin great and if he leaves the EAGLES they will not b in the playoffs in a long time as hard as it sounds thats why i hate when poeple critasize him for a few bad games and is great when he needs 2 b look at this run, they have going on its unbelievable a moth ago there were done now they game away from the super bowl its really amazing and believe in him thats why i think him and ,this defence will end up winning it all he deserves it and so does dawkins also the scary part about the McNABB is that he dont have big star receiver and he had 1 ones and look what happen he had the best stats of his career. anyway GO EAGLES beat up the cardinals this weekend and less take the lombardy trophy home on SUPER BOWL sunday.

I was sure hoping that you were headed to Charlotte so we could watch. We took our 10 year old daughter to Philadelphia to see a home game. After 12 hours on the train and my daughter chatting to everyone at the train station she met a nice woman whose daugter-in-law works for the Eagles. She is our basketball star who always wears 5 on her jersey because she is a big fan. Thanks to the kind lady we recieved a autographed picture of you which she has shown to everyone in our hometown of Dallas, NC. 5, You are the best. But, I still say, you need RECEIVERS. We can keep Jackson, Curtis, and Greg Smith - the rest gotta go. Sorry, I gotta call it like I see it. I admire Andiy, but I fault Andy and Lurie on one thing; they have not spent the money, to get the receivers for the offense you're running. You can't do it with receivers who have no hands, and can't separate. Everyone else running a West Coast Offense has RECEIVERS. You should've had 3 rings by now. You're a class act and I respect your quiet leadership and humbleness for the cameras, but behind the scenes, I feel for you. The blueprint is written. Your season with T.O.., Ok, maybe not the best person to work with, but, we need a receiver with his talent, work ethic and will to win, with a better personality and character. Not personal, just football. God Bless. Stay Up. Next Year!!!

Mcnabb, Thank you for a very exciting season, it was great till the end. We don't blame you for the loss because we can't blame a quarter back when he throw for over 350 yards in a game. Players did what they were told to do, is just that jimmy Johnson was out coach in this game. It happens that way sometimes. Next year our defense needs to play up on the other opponents receiver bump them off their routs with more of a safety over the top. Looking forward for the rush feeling again next year, E-A-G-L-E-S!

Just wanted to THANK YOU for all you do for us fans. I've been a raging maniac fan for 20 years and love watching you lead our team. Please know that there are 10's of thousands of us who love and support you. Its the loud minority of screaming drunks that give us a bad name. You know the ones....They're so drunk they don't even know what down or qaurter it is. Please don't lump us all together and fall into Deion Sanders and Jamie Dukes trap. They have no idea how passionate we are and how the majority love having you as our leader. This media crap is getting out of hand and really taking the fun out of watching football highlights. Next time they try to rope you in to their controversy fed propoganda can you put them in their place for me? At least ackowledge the fact that we all aren't as bad as they say. Donovan ppl always say u choke and clearly u dont because u just destroyed and mutilated that cardinals defense. they looked like they had given up on D. wen u were just throwing dime passes left rite and center. and u kno wat, i think u r rite wen u say that u do hav the receivers to do the job. i think u need a better O-line but wit shawn andrews coming back that should be solved and maybe start winston justice now since runyan took a beating throughout this season. Im still surprised how quick u and the offense engineered 19 straight points. This is why i tell all my friends that u r the best qb in the league. i dont think peyton or tom could do wat u hav done in philly. Next year looks very promising, plus now this is the first time in years that u hav a Defense help u out. As u can clearly see no one is really talking trash bout u anymore coz they saw wat i saw yesterday and they kno that donovan mcnabb is among the leagues best if not the best. DMac, you put on the superman cape in the second half. Led us back from an 18 point deficit and handed the D the lead. What else could you have done. that was a team loss, and it was tough to swallow, but I know you still have a few runs left in you , and when you get that lombardi trophy, it'll just be that much sweeter. Unfortunately the result is the same because you choke in NFC Title Games. You had a horrible first half and although you brought the team back you couldn't win in the end. Either you are the problem or we need a Larry Fitzgerald type receiver. Had the defense showed up it wouldn't have mattered. Do you guys really prepare for the NFC Title Game or do you think just showing up is enough because you are the Philadelphia Eagles. It was telling that no one took responsibility for the loss. You blamed the defense and Akers said he is not the worst kicker in the league. Maybe if you learn from your mistakes instead of glossing over them you may win the NFC Title Game and perhaps a Superbowl.

lets see akers misses a field goal, greg lewis drops a bomb that he had enough time to make the adjustment, mcnabb did miss fire on some throws, akers missis an extra point that the holder didnt set properly, the defense didnt play that well thats what i call a team loss. by the way fantheman warner did miss fire on some throws also. nobody perfect!

  Well let's see, Kurt Warner was throwing to Larry Fitzgerald and McNabb threw to Greg Lewis. Fitzgerald can make the adjustment to a bad throw but Lewis can't. A great receiver can make the adjustment but Greg Lewis cannot. Bottom line the quarterback that played better is going to the Superbowl. McNabb has enough big game experience that he should have played better and kept the game closer in the first half.

After the loss this week I really felt for you and Dawkins - and hell the whole team. I woke up Monday morning and shaved my Eagles Playoff beard with a broken heart...a loss like this takes a few days to recover from...I'm looking forward to the 2009 season so much though...there is a new resurgence in this team and I hope by September, a lot of our current players will still be around.

You're a terrific talent, and a true gentleman, and I'd like to remind you that while shallow brooks are noisy, still waters run deep. Remember that a sports team's fan base is like an iceberg: the upper third represents the loudest minority, those calling for your trade, for Andy Reid's dismissal, and the like.

The lower two-thirds represent US, the loyal fan base who bleed green, who love our Eagles, who think that you're an excellent quarterback and that Andy Reid is one heckuva coach - and who want you two to remain exactly where you are for as long as possible.

Hey donovan, i was watching the past eagles games from the past 3 or so years and it occurred 2 me that u brought the eagles back when they were down every time only for the defense to make costly mistakes and cost the eagles the game. this is why ur critics talk smack about u. when peyton or brady make a game winning drive, their defense takes the responsibility to stop the other team or get off the field but our defense for the last 3 years has done a very poor job of that. if the eagles fix that problem then the eagles will win more games.

  Don't complain about penalties. Having first hand expieience playing football, I know how many penalties are not called. You can't blame a game on something like that.

hey Donovan my name is Kendal and I live in N.C. I paly basketball because they won't let mr play football. You are my favorite player and I will only play with the number 5 on my jersey. My parents took my to Philly to watch you play in person and it was like awesome. I LOVE THE PHILLY FANS. Sometimes they can be too hard on the team. If u get bored go to the elks hoop shoot website and I am ranked 4th in basketball freethrows in the nation. I love sportsand staying in good shape. I love running and shooting ball everyday. p.s. i'm a girl I APPRECIATE THE AUTOGRAPH YOU SENT ME THROUGH THE NICE LADY AT THE TRAIN STATION. I CRIED WHEN I GOT IT.LOTS OF LOVE TO YOUR WIFE AND FAMILY AND MY MOTHER IS A BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR AND WE LOVE ALL THE MONEY THAT IS RAISED FOR BREAST CANCER. My parents are my hughest fans along with all my friends in Dallas, NC. p.s. it is a very small town. I would love to meet u one day next to my mom you are my hero. She has dedicated her life to helping others especially with breat cancer and she is only 41 years old and she has been a fan since 1984. Thanks for all you do for breat cancer and all the other organizations you help. My parents have taught me it is better to give than recieve. LOVE TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. Sorry Donovan. But you gotta stop playing the martyr. You're a good QB, and seem like a nice guy, funny too. But you sulk on the sidelines when things aren't going well, which your teammates see, and you hold onto things that upset you. BTW Kolb got booed on draft day too. Let it go. You have a great job, family and life. Enjoy it! Carrying this stuff around will give you an ulcer. Focus on the good stuff. If you're not careful, you'll miss it. Just like that idiot T.O. What's he going to look back on? A career of being a fool, and no-one to hang with at the team reunions. Good luck to you.

Touching up on the Superbowl I think it will be simple. If the Steelers can shut down the Arizona WRs, and get to Warner often and early, then they will win. If Arizona blows up the Steelers D, then they will win. It will be quite a show.
