On Tour

Took another stop on my tour with Novartis talking about hypertension and high blood pressure. After stops in Syracuse and Chicago, I found myself in Harrisburg, the capitol of Pennsylvania. After a few media hits it was on to the Capitol Building to meet with some politicians and their constituents. While there we barged into the Governor's office. Ed Rendell was gracious enough to invite me, my parents, and our group into his office. After that, we were invited to the floor of the House of Representatives. Note to all PA residents: You are all well represented as there were just as many Steelers fans as Eagles fans amongst the politicians. While we were there to talk about hypertension, you might imagine there were more than a few questions about football. Here are a few of the more popular ones along with my responses. Q: Did the team do enough this offseason to compete for a Super Bowl? A: We have enough to compete right now. If there is a chance to continue improving our roster after June 1 than we should look at that too. Q: Without any new offensive weapons, how will the team improve this year? A: Having L.J. Smith healthy is a good start. We need to be more productive in the Red Zone and that's a part of the field where the tight end is crucial. When L.J. was hurt last year we seemed to get away from that too much. Q: What about DeSean Jackson? A: He impressed me with his speed and ability to catch the ball. Hopefully he will be able to shorten the field for us with his return ability on special teams, and stretch the field on offense with his speed.

  Donovan, I do believe the Eagles are ready to seriously compete this year. They already have the best defense in the NFC East, and will definetaly be able to stop all opposing offenses. Mr. Curtis is in for his second year and everyone else is still there, and I believe that stability is just as good as skill on a team. Hopefully Booker will be able to ease B-West's load and the O-Line gives you ample time to make the decisions you need to make. By the way, Harrisburg is nice, isn't it?

  I like how you included "June 1st" into your answer for possibly making some "roster tweaks" . A few people come to mind that could help rectify the offensive "red zone" woes. (Ocho *cough*) haha :)

  D Nabb, Im a fan from Memphis TN. I agree that the O will be better with LJ and Desean, but I would think that when you saw what Brady could do with weapons all over, you had to be thinking to yourself that you could do the same with those kinds of options. I will admit you have better options now than when you made it to some of the NFC champion ship games, but father time is ticking. So does June 1 mean, Chad, Roy? What do you really want for Christmas?
  By the way I came to Philly for the first time to see the Eagles/Dallas game in 07. Been to Dallas to see you play in 04 also. Eagles 0-2. Imma need some free tickets to the third one.

  lol EagleFanINMem: Dude! I came to see the Eagles play for the first time at home last year too! (versus the Cowboys). All the way out from CALI! I just hope that I can actually get tickets when they are available this year since I couldn't the past 3 years and had to resort to highway robbery (aka stubhub@$450 a ticket!). I'm going to see the Eagles again back up in SF this year (and hopefully we destroy them like the last time I went there). Still contemplating another home game this year, but only if I can get them on ticketmaster (for once!).

  Super 5, I'm looking forward to seeing you back on the field this season. There's still no other quarterback in the league that can be as effective as you with their legs and arm. You've lead offenses with way less talent than this deep into the playoffs. Just you being healthy makes the game even more exciting and the Eagles a contender. God Luck! But i knew it i knew it i knew it i just stayed quiet About the whole matter regarding June 1st cuz i know we are all tired of hearing the Rumors about This Wr and About the Posibility of this other WR coming to Philly an im not going to lie i too Get annoyed with all these Reports but Obviously Andy and Dmac an the Front Office Know Something... if it is the Bengals that the there may be a possible trade with well The Bengals are very Quiet I wonder Why Chad Johnson is Acting strangely normal and quiet and not making a ruckus.....   I think you have the same point of view as the rest of us.....the more talent we grab up, the better. NE will not be easy to beat this year once again.... we may be able to compete with the NFC but NE will take our best to beat them for the ring and you know they will defly show up to play if they're in the big game this season

  I fell in love with the Eagles during the Randall Cunningham era, and am still a passionate fan because of the Donovan McNabb era. You have been our franchise's savior, and if Andy could ever make the error of losing you, I'd still be a fan no matter where you dominated.   What's up D-MAC!! You haven't been on myspace in a minute but i know u are very busy rite now with Mini-camps and preparing for the upcoming season. I saw you on NFL Network the other day in an interview with Brian Baldinger. You look to be in great shape. I can't wait til this upcoming season. I believe we have enough weapons rite now to make a Super Bowl run. Having L.J. Smith back 100% will be a "BIG" difference for us especially in the redzone. We are under the radar rite now which is fine with me. I hope we can make a run like the Giants did last season. We just need to get off to a good start this season. It helps that we are at home for Week 1. I plan on going to that game. Hope to hear from u soon. I believe Eagles should make some more moves on the offensive side of the ball as they did on the defensive side like signing some big-time veteran WR (you know who?) who is unhappy with his contract.   D, Just wanted to say thanks for being our QB. It's not easy to be a sports hero in Philly. I've lived here my whole life. I guess outsiders would think it's sad how much we love our teams and how much they impact our lives. It's just that this is a blue-collar town. We're not rich people and we love having hope. You guys bring us that hope. I just keep getting the feeling that this year is THE year. I don't care if we get another player or not. I'm comfortable with what we have and I have total faith in you as our leader. Keep on doing what you do...and keep that big old smile pasted on your face. You always play better when you're smiling.
