Sports Illustrated NFL Preview

I have always been a big sports fan; way back for as long as I can remember. The seasons changed and I went from baseball to football to basketball but one thing was certain - I was going to participate and compete AND I was going to watch the pros play. When you grow up in Chicago that means watching Walter Payton and the Bears, Michael Jordan and the Bulls, and Andre Dawson and the Cubs. Back then, I would always get the weekly edition of Sports Illustrated. I couldn't get enough. I would even cut out the pictures and the covers and tape them to my walls. I've been a pro football player for 10 years now and I have been fortunate enough to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated one time. Many times at autograph sessions I have been asked to sign the cover for people. It never gets old for me to see that magazine. This week, Sports Illustrated is putting out their 2008 NFL Preview Edition. I was informed that there will be six different regional covers and that I will be one of them. The other five players featured in the regional covers are Patriots QB Tom Brady, Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Dallas QB Tony Romo, Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew and Vikings RB Adrian Peterson. It's still a thrill for me to be on the cover.

    It's lame I was expecting my SI magazine with Donvan gracing the front....a collector's issue in my humble opinion but guess what.....my cover came with Ladanian Tomlinson on the front!!!

      Also I notice Peter King snubbed you Donovan in his 50 best players list. He put Westbrook way up, deep in the list...pretty much a snub for him too. Stupid Peter King!

  Hey now the front magazine says Bring it the best Linebackers and backfield do they mean that Mcnabb is saying Bring it or that our Linebackers and Backfield are saying Bring it LOL i need some enlightment how can i get or subscribe to this magazine to get Mcnabb on Sports illustrated the magazine LOL well im glad some show of respect to the Man he deserves it he is a great elite qb my fav. player/athlete go EAGLES

  Congrats on making that coveted cover! I just saw this on the Eagles website yesterday and cussed to myself. I let my subscription expire two weeks ago, so I have to go hunt this down. I hope I can get a copy. Had I known....

  And the Trophy so Everyone Can Hush up about Mcnabb and how he is Successful he will prove it the Window of oppourtunity hasnt shut down..... The Eagles went from the Basement to the 1st to second place in the NFC EAST they are right behind the Cowboys tails.....

  I have been a huge Eagles fan since I was 9 y.o. and I think you are one of the best things to happen to this team in all that time. I have a copy of the first SI cover and I am going to have to figure out how to get one of the new ones. I might have to find an excuse to make a trip to Philli. I live in Texas and I'm sure that all I'll find around here is Tony Romo, oh well I'll see what I can do. I hope you and the rest of the team have a great season. GOOD LUCK !

  Kind of a joke how SI wrote 6 different tales of how the season will unfold for each regional issue. Yeah, right Eagles are going 12-4 and to the Super Bowl! HA! Wish I had gotten the Romo cover which pick Dallas to go the Big Dance versus the Pats.

  Donovan, this is from the heart. You're by far the best QB the Eagles have seen. I believe you are one of the many players in past generations who deserved to lift that Lombardi Trophy. Congratulations on being on the cover. I truly hope that this isn't all going to come back and bite Philadelphia in the butt with the team not even making a playoff run. I just can't see that. Now that preseason is over, it's time for you and the team to show the world starting on Sept 7th against the Rams why the Eagles will be a force this season.   SI will be sorry they didn't pick the EAGLES in the Super Bowl come Feb.
