Thanks for Keeping Me Focused!
Many of you were right on with your comments. In my excitement to start the season I talked about the hard work and the ultimate payoff - the Super Bowl. My adrenaline was pumping. At the moment I sat down to write the blog it got the best of me. But, what had made us so successful over the years has been the one game at a time approach. So the focus now is the Washington Redskins. Since the game in Green Bay I had a few days off and was able to take care of a few things, get in a few workouts and get ready for the next game. Today we received our game plans and now the concentration is solely on the Washington Redskins. They are a tough team, they are strong on both sides of the ball. They have outstanding players on defense and Gregg Williams is one of the best coordinators in the NFL. I'm glad to see Reno Mahe back. He led the NFL in punt returning last year so I'm surprised at the people that think he's just back there to catch the ball and that's it. He almost always makes a positive play. Plus, he's a great teammate with an outstanding work-ethic.

Here is the real issue though, we all now know the Patriots robbed us and after reading the statements from yourself and various other team leaders I assume you guys all agree. I don't mean to take anything away from the week to week mentality but I haven't felt this good about the Eagles chance of winning it all since that season, so take from that what you will. Thanks for blogging! I really appreciate it your taking the time out of your busy schedule to let the fans know what is on your mind. I still say this is the year!

As a Ravens fan and a Syracuse fan, it will be doubly nice to see you beat Washington.
Good luck; stay healthy.

I read your comment about the black quarterbacks and I agree that theres a different standard but it seems that way because a majority of black quarterbacks are pure athletes that have the scramble first mentality and it is a double edged sword. No one is a more complete quarterback when they can scramble an pass (See comments about vick when he threw 3 tds last year) but when things go wrong e.g. injuries, fumbles, etc. everyone wants the QB to become a pocket passer. I think you have developed into a pocket passer and I feel you have gotten the credit you deserve HOWEVER you get way to much grief for losses. You did not play well the last couple of games but nobody goes after the qb the way they do in philly and its unjustified because if you boo after the first series, it gets in the head of the whole offense. I saw your quote about how fans want you to yell and speak out and I agree you dont want to mouth off, but your players do not step up for you because you have the ability to do it yourself and they dont feel pushed. Garcia needed a lot of help and Reggie and Donte and LJ made ridiculous catches because, probably because they knew the qb situation was weak. They NEED to get separation, theres nothing wrong with saying I need to make throws but my receivers need to get out of their breaks. Dont give the blanket we all need to play better-- or at least tell them privately. Good luck this year.

Donovan, you've been treated very well by the national media as well as the local media. Are you saying you would be treated better if you were a white QB???
