Checkin' In
Just want to check in briefly today - getting ready to play an important game against the Giants.
Last week's game in Minnesota was a good win. I think the key on offense was that we were able to move the ball, convert a few important third downs and were able to change field position. Ultimately, the 71-yard screen pass to Brian Westbrook broke the Vikings backs. That was a great effort by Brian and the blocking he received from the line and the receivers proved that it takes a whole team to be successful. It would be a mistake not to mention the outstanding play of the defense and special teams who ratcheted up the intensity to playoff level even before the postseason started.
We will need to match that intensity and actually build on it this week against the Giants.
For the second week in a row we are facing a former Eagles coach who is doing wonderful things with another team. Leslie Frazier (Vikings) and Steve Spagnuolo (Giants) were assistants here for a while, have proven that they are outstanding defensive coordinators and are now being mentioned for many head coaching vacancies. I think they both deserve their chance and each would make an outstanding head coach - I would say the same for Ron Rivera who led both the Bears and Chargers to the postseason since leaving here.
