Getting Better Each Week
It was nice to get away for a few days but it was even better to come back and get a win under our belt. Getting a few guys back healthy was great and I think we will be able to continue to improve on the field as we continue to improve in the health department. Having Tra Thomas and Brian Westbrook back was certainly a boost and I think the absence of L.J. Smith has been overlooked.
I've said for some time now that with this offense everyone will get their chance to shine. I know that Reggie Brown has taken some heat this year so it was nice to see him have a game like he did vs. the Jets. He has continued to work hard.
This week we have the Chicago Bears. They are similar to us in many ways ? they won their division last year, they have just two wins, they have played well enough to win a few others, and they know they can play better. It should be a good game.
Thanks for the positive comments about the ASB. I know I've been blessed and my family and I take pride in being able to help others. In fact, my wife Roxi will be hosting the Philadelphia Community Baby Shower For New & Expected Mothers along with State Senator Shirley M. Kitchen. It will take place on Saturday, October 27, 2007 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Temple Children's Medical Center. Good luck with the Bears. It's nice to see someone helping out not just because it makes them look good.

Good to hear that the team is getting healthy and last week truly reflected the toughness of this team. Guys playing through injuries has to be hard and I appreciate the sacrifices players are making as a fan. Especially Todd Herremans playing with his recent knee surgery. Hopefully Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins will be able to get healthy soon. Westbrook just keeps rolling through the defenders, and I was excited to see LJ Smith make his return with that grab in the middle of the field. I certainly had not forgotten about his athletic abilities at the position and now that he is back what do you think about using more two TE sets?
It was really good to see Tony Hunt come in and convert the 3rd and short, I think having those kind of options in short yardage situations is really going to help open things up for the offense. I'm also glad Reggie Brown got into the action and hope Jason Avant can find ways to use his size against defenders creating mismatches. Good luck in this game against the Bears. Stay patient and focused! -
What is your biggest challenge with this Bears this week?
-
Keep up the good work in the Community! You guys looked much better on offense last week. I think we have over looked LJ's importance in your offense. Especially in the 'red zone'. Anyway, nice little run you had there for the first down. You looked good running straight ahead, but side ways..... you need to get a little healthier. Oh, let 'Buck' run that ball a little more when you need to take the pressure off of yourself and Westbrook. Much success against the Bears!
-
I'm not sure about your improvment this week. I managed to fall asleep during the game, and this is after I couldn't wait for two long weeks to watch you guys.
-
That is an excellent thing your wife is doing. I am so glad that your fans are able to read the good things you are doing for the community. Just a reminder to fans that we may not have the name but we can do great things for our community also. I really like this idea about a baby shower for mothers. I will work on getting my college students to do this for college mothers. Good job!
-
Good luck this week vs. the Bears. Stay focused and one game at a time!
-
I'm really pumped to see what happens against the Bears. The health of this team on offense will be a big boost. I know getting LJ even healthier will open up so many more things for the offense, and put less pressure on the WRs, opening them up.
Now, I'm hoping that secondary gets healthy too so we can see what this defense can really do.
Best of luck this week, it should be a great one. And, once again, great to see some more good news coming from you and your family off the field. Wonderful stuff. -
Yeah D-Mac, I was in the stands on Sunday at the beautiful Meadowlands. That audible to get Kevin the ball was awesome. He was heading right at us from our view. What a great way to spark the day off. The redzone O stumbled, but atleast we know what to work on. Our offense in between the 20's is really efficient. I think Andy should think about looking at some film from the 2004 season, when we got into the endzone almost every time. The play-calling is obviously crucial. You seem to keep getting healthier, with the way your moving and everything. It's great to see. Thanks for the win D-Mac, let's get to .500 Sunday.

The Eagles will never see a super bowl without a top notch reciever. Thats the bottom line. Doesn't matter how healthy anyone gets, with Brown, Avant and Curtis as a recieving core, making the playoffs by the skin of your teeth is the best hope you have.
During the Mcnabb Era you guys went to the super bowl, once. Granted he was injured during the playoffs, but it was with a top notch reciever. When will the organization pay the money for a reciever that "puts in his own work" instead of you having to put in work for them?
A QB needs a Wideout than can make plays. The type of wideout where you can throw the ball near him and HE makes the play, instead of YOU having to thread the needle and hit him square in the chest to make a play? Having a WR like that takes considerable pressure off the QB and makes it easier for mediocre guys like curtis, avant and brown to actually perfrom.
Seems to me like Mcnabb is getting dogged in philly by his own organization. I think if the eagles really wanted to succeed and get a ring they would get the weapons to do it. I think if they couldnt get a WR off the FA list they would draft a WR instead of drafting Mcnabbs replacement.
Tell me you wouldn't love to have #81 getting set on your line of scrimmage. (no not T.O.) -
I agree.. He need to weapons to win this war. Yeah, Moss would have looked great in the green.
-
I completely agree. McCardell and Chambers were out there. What the fu?? is the front office thinking?

What's up Fam?
Just stopping through to say what's up. Keep doing your thing man. Your dedication is something I wish I would have had in college. My life would have been much different now. But watching some of your workout videos really inspires a brother to get his ass back in shape. As you proboberly remember I had been teaching for the past 9 years. I was dropped from the Masters program two years ago and recently dropped from my position in teaching because I just couldn't get pass the Teachers Exam. I feel I was pushed through high school and also college as an athlete which prompted my lack of ability in test taking. When I took the SAT test to get into College I only needed a 700 at the time. I think I received a 720. Barely making the cut so to speak. And man when I went to college I can't even remember one class. It's crazy. It was just Basketball and more Basketball. A few parties hear and there. LOL. But I was an athlete that was pushed through. I believe that is what has inspired me to become a teacher. But with this George Bush, "NO Child Left Behind" forcing higher standards for students and also teachers, it has sort of pushed a brother out of the mix. It's messed up, especially considering that I was one of the children left behind. Don't get me wrong I believe that raising the standards will be beneficial to the Educational System Nationwide. But things don't happen overnight. It amazes me that with the shortage of teachers and the condition of children today, that they would drop someone with the experience, excellent track record and relationship that I bring to an academic arena. But hey, all I can do is to stay in faith and keep on pushing. I now this isn't exactly the forum for this type of message and bless you if you've even continued to read this up to this point. I just couldn't get a hold of Saun and anyone else for that matter. I look to you now young fellow (LOL), not for a hand out, but any opportunity you may have for a brother to earn an income. I know you have a lot on your plate and people coming at you left and right (gimmy, gimmy, gimmy) but I must say that no one does anything alone. Networking is the greatest tool to success aside from hard work. I'm sure you can attest to that. Remember all the sports camps growing up Don. That was a form of networking in itself. And I can't lie, there isn't anyone else with the abilities and connections that you have, that I know of, to help someone. If you feel that you are just too overwhelmed to look into to something for me, I will definitely understand man. Just remember that I'm still a fan and a friend and will support you and your family no matter what. It was your DAD that guided me and your mom who opened her home to me as a young man. This is why you will always be favored in my WORLD bra : ) If you wish to contact me check out my page on myspace. It's all I have in the way of communication now. www.myspace.com/worlddynasty. My name on the page is * WORLD * "Getting Better Each Week" is significant because as the days pass and our struggles continue, so do our blessings, as we grow stronger in faith and in wisdom. Good luck next week. I'll be watching kid.

I know this message was for Donovan. However, I work in higher education with the TRiO Programs here in Mississippi and I am sure if you want to work with the youths that you can find a place in TRiO. TRiO Programs work with potential first generation/low income college students. The Upward Bound and Talent Search Programs are pre-collegiate programs. I work with Student Support Services for college students and Educational Opporuntiy Center work with high school drop outs. Your classroom experience would be awesome in dealing with this population of students. Some programs require you to have a Master Degree others only require a Bachelor Degree. If you want more information on this avenue, check out www.trioprograms.org. You can also click on the state link to find schools in the area you are in that have these programs. Hope this helps!
-
I stated click on the state link on the www.trioprograms.org site it is actually the trio directory that will provide the information. Again, I hope this information helps.

Eagles are just unable to score TD's in the red-zone and the offense basically goes from 3 dimensional (run, pass, play-action) to 1 dimensional once inside the opponents 35yardline (passing only). Also, there are relatively few times the WRs are getting separation and the OL has been painful to watch. I think unless Reid's got some new strategies (i.e. get a new QB and WR tandem) within the next few games, the Eagles are playing for draft choices. The division is much too competitive and the Eagles lost to divisional opponents already. McNabb has done good for the organization in the past, but now it's time to think about the future.....
-
Lets get real- the Jets suck, and the Eagles barely beat them. I'm not so sure things are going to go well this year. Please prove me wrong!
-
Couldn't agree more.
-
Hi Donovan, I think it's wonderful what you and your wife are doing for others....It is inspiring.
How about using Hunt and Buck in the red zone?
Keep the Faith!! BEAT Bears! GO EAGLES! -
Lets get real- the Jets suck, and the Eagles barely beat them.
true , i was at the meadowlands, but i'll take any win right now for the Eagles. -
Good luck this week Donovan, and I'm glad to hear that you want to be with the Eagles until the end of your career.
-
I KNOW YOU GET ALOT OF UNESSCERARY CRICTISM THAT YOU DONT DESERVE. IN MY MIND I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT ON ALOT OF ISSUES. I ALSO THINK YOU HAVE ONE OF THE TOUGHEST JOBS THERE IS. BEING A QB FOR THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. BUT I WOULD LIKE YOU TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE ALSO ALOT OF US OUT HERE THAT DO BELIEVE IN YOU 5. I BEEN A FAN SINCE YOU WERE AT SYRACUSE AND WAS SO GLAD WHEN THE EAGLES DRAFTED YOU. I KNOW ONE DAY YOULL WIN ONE FOR US. SO JUST KEEP SMILING AND DOIN YOUR THING. IT WILL ALL COME TOGETHER SOON ENOUGH. GODLUCK WIT CHICAGO IM PRETTY SURE YOULL BE EXTRA PUMPED TO PLAY YOUR HOMETOWN TEAM. GO GETTUM 5.
P.S. COULD YOU POSSIBLY THROW A COUPLE 80 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASSES TO CURTIS, I GOT U AND HIM ON MY FANTASY TEAM AND COULD REALLY USE THE POINTS THIS WEEK. SEE YA AT DA GAME. -
P.S. COULD YOU POSSIBLY THROW A COUPLE 80 YARD TOUCHDOWN PASSES TO CURTIS,
PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!

I love that picture!

Donovan what in the world was that? I watched the "mighty Eagles offense" with Donovan Mcnabb at QB be controlled by the mediocre Bears defense. Before the season started you said that black quarterbacks have a higher standard. If you're going to go say that, at least come out this season and make something happen for the offense. You had one good game, that was against Detroit. What happened to the Donovan Mcnabb who could make things happen when it mattered? When the game was coming to a close and the score was close and we needed someone who could stay cool in a hot situation. Oh wait, that was never you. You blew the Superbowl, you blew the Giants game at home last season, and you blew the game today. You had 4 seconds on the clock to go 60 yards and you threw a 10 yard pass into the ground. I know these are tough situations but this is when it matters. This is when it comes down to a win or a loss. This is what separates the legends from everyone else. Take Joe Montana, a man who could stay cool and win a game. Now look at Dan Marino, what separates these two men is that Dan Marino has a lot of records, and amazing stats, but he has no rings. Not one. Joe Montana happens to have three. This is what makes Joe a better QB than Marino. The point of football is to win as many games as possible, and then win the Superbowl. You seem to have a problem winning regular games, what makes you think you're going to take this team to the Superbowl let alone win it? You don't even look like the Donovan of '04. You look like Kyle Boller Jr. in a Philadelphia Eagles jersey and they slapped the #5 on there. You take too much time, you can't handle pressure, you're throwing way to inaccurately, can't see open players down the field and then after you make all these mistakes, you walk off the field smiling sometimes! This is rediculous, you talk about the Superbowl like we're going into the playoffs, but right now we're stuck in last place. You are the quarterback of this team. It's your job to lead this team to victory offensively. If you can't do that, they will find someone else who will.
Now after reading all of this you probably think I dislike you and don't see you fit for the QB position. However I do like you and do think you should be QB for the Philadelphia Eagles, I just want the Donovan from '04 back and want him to do well.
I want to see my Eagles fly again. -
Donovan, you keep saying the right things after these games, but at what point do we just admit this team is just not very good (and it kills me to say it). I keep hearing the experts say "they'll win by 10", "they should put up 30", but has anyone watched this team!?!?!? The receivers don't get open and if they do, they don't catch the ball....you and B-West can only do so much. Unfortunately, I think we're running out of "there's always next year" because while I'll still be here, you may not.
-
Cmon D-man, carpe diem! Seize the carp! You guys gotta all step forward and say "no more" this season or it's a lost year. It's easy for armchair quarterbacks like myself to be know-it-alls, but this is why you're the man, this is why your team looks to you, this is why you carry Philly on your back. CMON! Drag your team to the SuperBowl kicking and screaming!
-
I don't know what happened at the end of that game. I know this time defense didn't stop the Bears from getting a touchdown and winning the game. Defense has been doing an excellent job I don't know why they couldn't stop them at the end. What's going on McNabb? I know you guys are a great team and I still have faith. I'm not really mad either. I just don't know how a team with this much talent and a great QB have a 2 and 4 record. What's going on in the end zone? Why no touchdowns? There really is no reason that I can think of that makes the Eagles a 2 and 4 team. I know you guys can do this I just don't know why it hasn't been happening. Why haven't you all been shutting down other teams? You all really have to keep focused and really have to keep your heads up. I can only imagine how you all feel right now. There is still next sunday and we still have more football to play so let's focus on Minnesota. The season isn't over yet and I will be watching every Eagles game. Learn from your mistakes, pay attention, and move on to the next game. LET'S GO EAGLES!!!! Keep Focused!!! YOU HAVE TO WANT IT TO GET IT!!!!
-
No disrespect to your teammates in Philly, but you would fit perfectly into the Denver Broncos offense.
-
38-10!!!! Gurantee that!!!! See ya in Dallas!!!
