Amir Khan BOOED after response to potential Conor Benn fight

Amir Khan refused to be drawn into accepting a fight with Conor Benn after his demolition of Chris van Heerden in Manchester last night.

Khan made his return to the sport after accepting a long-awaited grudge fight with long-term rival Kell Brook, during which the better boxer would be determined once and for all.

Unfortunately for the Bolton-born fighter, he was way off the pace, with Brook picking him apart before eventually ending the contest prematurely. Many expected that to be the end of Khan’s career.

However, the fighter himself has suggested that he could continue on and fight again, which has intensified speculation as to who he could step into the ring with next.

Conor Benn is one potential opponent who has been mentioned, but having urged through the ropes after his win over Chris van Heerden last night, Khan refused to be drawn.

He’s quoted by The Sun saying: “I am just here to enjoy the boxing. I’m a fan. I’m here to support him. At the moment to spend time to my family but who knows.

“If I comeback then we can see where we go from there. He is a young and hungry lion.” Khan was subsequently booed by the fans, who evidently craved fighting talk.

Benn’s youth alone would make the Khan fight a relatively routine one. All involved in trying to make this bout materialise ought to reassess whether it’d actually be a good idea…
