Amir Khan pursuing rematch with rival Kell Brook, claims Eddie Hearn

Amir Khan is ready to invoke the rematch clause in his fight agreement with Kell Brook, according to Eddie Hearn.

Khan made his return to the ring against long-term foe Brook and fell miserably short of the level required to cause him any problems. As a result, he was stopped in the sixth round of the contest.

The expectation was that we wouldn’t see Khan again in a boxing ring, with Brook’s victory over him likely to force him into retirement, but that may not be the case.

While discussing the possibility of Brook facing off against Conor Benn, Eddie Hearn revealed his understanding that Khan is looking at invoking the rematch clause in the initial fight agreement.

The gulf in quality was so considerable that there really is no logical reason for Khan to pursue a rematch. It’s hard to imagine that it would do particularly good PPV numbers, either.

If the first fight wasn’t enough of a cash-grab from Khan, attempting to pencil in a rematch, one which he would have very little chance of winning, would make his intentions all the more transparent.
