Watch: Terence Crawford announces Errol Spence Jr. title fight

After years of speculation, the long-awaited fight between Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. will finally take place on July 29, Crawford announced on Instagram on Thursday.

Spence also addressed the fight on his social media.

"Finally giving the fans what they want," Spence wrote on Instagram. "This one [is] a throwback fight on paper but it could be a one-sided a-- whooping [and] one of the biggest fights of the century."

Crawford versus Spence Jr. is boxing’s latest super-fight, drawing comparisons to Gervonta Davis versus Ryan Garcia, which garnered over $1.2M in pay-per-view buys. The excitement surrounding the Crawford-Spence matchup indicates its potential to attract significant viewership, and more importantly, revive boxing to its previous glory.

Crawford (39-0, 30 KO) and Spence (28-0, 22 KO) are two of the best welterweights in boxing, and fans have been eagerly waiting for a showdown between two of the greatest fighters in the world.

Crawford, 35, is the current WBO welterweight champion, which he won in June 2018 with a TKO win over Jeff Horn. Since then, he has successfully defended his title six times, all coming by knockout.

Spence, 33, currently holds the WBC, IBF and WBA (Super) welterweight championships. He last fought in April 2022 at AT&T Stadium, where he finished David Avanesyan by sixth-round KO and captured the WBA (Super) welterweight title.

Finally, after years of failed negotiations and heated exchanges, Crawford and Spence Jr. will finally jump into the boxing ring to settle the 147-pound debate. The fight will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
