No. 2 Arkansas wins big road series vs No. 20 South Carolina

After a 6-3 setback earlier in the day, No. 2 Arkansas pulled nine runs out of their pocket on Saturday for a 9-6 victory that gave Arkansas a series win.

Despite an abnormally poor outing from reliever Will McEntire, who gave up three runs in two innings, Arkansas offense did enough to clinch the series against the Gamecocks.

Arkansas starter Brady Tygart gave up just two runs in six innings on the mound, while the Hogs compiled nine hits to scratch across their nine runs. Despite giving up a run, Gage Wood closed out the final inning to seal the game.

A three-run second inning put Arkansas up 3-0, but Carolina kept the game close entering the seventh inning. With the Razorbacks leading 4-2, they put up five runs in the seventh frame to break the contest open and lead comfortably.

Despite the aforementioned struggles by the Arkansas bullpen, the crooked-number seventh inning kept Arkansas ahead as the bullpen uncharacteristically struggled.

The road series win likely quiets the fears of those who were worried about Arkansas' performance on the road, as its first SEC series loss of the season in Tuscaloosa last weekend was some of the worst baseball Arkansas had played all year.

However, the South Carolina series win proved why Arkansas has run their record up to an outstanding 34-6 mark in late April. Whether it be in a low-scoring slugfest or a high-scoring affair, the Razorbacks proved they can win in multiple ways.

Arkansas will head to the state capital in Little Rock for a game against Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Tuesday inside Dickey-Stephens Park, home of the Mariners Double-A affiliate in the Arkansas Travelers.

After the one-off against UAPB, the Hogs will face Florida for a three-game set in Fayetteville that will see the highly touted Jac Caglianone take the diamond against the Razorbacks.

First pitch for Tuesday's contest against UAPB is set for 7 p.m. ET and will air on SEC Network+.
