Six weeks ago when TCU traveled to Cincinnati, it was missed free throws that sent the game to overtime and ultimately cost the Horned Frogs the win. In that game, TCU shot 50% from the line. Had Ernest Udeh made a free throw with 0:03 remaining, most likely, TCU would have come out with an early season road win.
In Saturday’s rematch in Fort Worth, TCU shot 93.3% from the free throw line, only missing one on 15 attempts – their best performance from the line all season. TCU also shot 40.9% from beyond the arc, sinking nine 3-pointers. Both of those helped the Frogs cruise to a 75-57 win in a loud Schollmaier Arena.
TCU moved to 19-8 overall and 8-6 in Big 12 play. The Frogs are now locked into a three-way tie for fourth place in the league with Baylor and Texas Tech. The Bears come to Fort Worth on Monday night.
Emanuel Miller and JaKobe Coles both scored 18 points in Saturday’s rout. Miller added six assists, a career high, plus six rebounds and three steals. Coles, who came off the bench, added two assists and two rebounds. For Coles, it was his sixth game in double-digit points out of the last seven played.
It only took five seconds to energize the crowd in Schollmaier Arena as Micah Peavy dunked the ball off the opening tip won by Xavier Cork. TCU would take an early 8-0 lead in the first 72 seconds of the game. Cincinnati would take the lead at 21-20 with 7:49 left in the first half. They would extend that lead to three points before Cork would re-take the lead with 5:36 left in the half. The Frogs would never surrender the lead after that. TCU led by as many as ten points before ending the half up 39-32.
In the second half, the Bearcats would narrow the gap to four points before TCU would go on several scoring runs, including one that went 14-2. With 2:45 remaining in the game, TCU held a 22-point lead over Cincinnati.
The Frogs scored 16 points off 17 forced turnovers and took advantage with 25 fastbreak points. Those 25 fastbreak points were the most by TCU in a Big 12 game this season. TCU leads the nation in fastbreak points.
TCU’s defense held Cincinnati to their lowest-scoring performance of the season with 57 points. And TCU’s 18-point margin of victory was its largest in Big 12 play this season.

Next up: TCU hosts No. 11 Baylor (19-8, 8-6) on Monday, February 26. The game will be at 8 p.m. CT and can be seen on ESPN. TCU beat Baylor in Waco on January 27 in a triple-overtime thriller, 105-102.
