USC Basketball: Andy Enfield Impressed By Bronny James' Team-First Attitude

Despite the noise and talk about his lack of production or where he should land in the NBA, USC basketball head coach Andy Enfield has not but positive things to say about Bronny James.

“He has no ego ... Sure, he wants to do well for himself, but he’s all about the team. It’s who he is as a person. He’s the son of one of the greatest basketball players of all time. But when he steps on the court, he’s Bronny—and he’s just one of the guys.”

Bronny has averaged just 19.5 minutes of playing time per game this season, which is much less than some of the top Trojans. For example, fellow freshman  Isaiah Collier averages 29.4 minutes per game while Boogie Ellis averages 34.2 minutes. He could be complaining for more time on the court, but appears to be focused on his team. 

Enfield also believes Bronny has plenty of potential. Though Bronny has averaged just 5.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while shooting 37% from the field, 

“We expect him to be a terrific player down the line. He has a big upside in his game, and as he gets more experience, it just keeps developing.”

Since Bronny has not officially stated if he plans to remain at USC next year or head for the NBA Draft, it's unclear if that growth would take place with the Trojans, or happen in the NBA. 

Either way, there is still plenty of time for Bronny to improve, especially after he had to start late this season because he suffered a cardiac arrest over the summer.
