#1 OT Kadyn Proctor Commits to Iowa, WR Dante Cephas to Kansas State, and More Portal News

Former 5-star recruit is headed home to the Hawkeyes; Miami picks up a running back from their arch rival, a talented DL is headed to the Big Ten, sorry, Big 16; and Nevada lands a talented DB from the transfer portal.

OT Kadyn Proctor

Iowa Hawkeyes (from Alabama)

6’7”, 360 lbs.

A former 5-star recruit and #1 offensive tackle nationally in the class of 2023, the recruitment of Kadyn Proctor was narrowed down to two schools: his home state school Iowa, and Alabama. He committed to the Hawkeyes. Then on the eve of National Signing Day, Proctor flipped his commitment from Iowa and chose Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Nick Saban has since retired, replaced by Kalen DeBoer, and Proctor hit the portal and is now headed home back to Iowa.

Proctor wins battles at the line of scrimmage with sheer strength and size, shows tenacity while engaging blockers, and has good movement for a player his size. Proctor will continue the string of talented offensive lineman to don the black and gold of Iowa.

WR Dante Cephas

Kansas State Wildcats (from Penn State)

6’1”, 178 lbs.

Beginning his sixth year of college football, Dante Cephas played one season for the Nittany Lions. In 2023, Cephas caught 22 balls for 246 yards and two touchdowns. Both of his scores came in the Maryland game in which he caught six passes for 53 yards.

Prior to last season, Cephas spent four seasons at Kent St. 2021 was his best season with the Golden Flashes: 82 catches, 1,240 yards, and nine touchdowns, and was the leading receiver at Kent St. that season. His season high in 2021 was against Buffalo: 13 catches for 186 yards and three touchdowns in a 48-38 win.

RB Rodney Hill

Miami Hurricanes (from Florida State)

5’10’190 lbs.

The third-leading rusher for the Seminoles in 2023, Rodney Hill rushed for 190 yards and a touchdown. His lone score came in a game against Duke in which he carried six times for 30 yards. Hill leaves the Seminoles running back room and fellow transfers Jaylin Lucas (from Indiana) and Roydell Williams (from Alabama) behind. Hill has three years of college football remaining.

DL Dennis Briggs Jr.

Illinois Fighting Illini (from Florida State)

6’4”, 280 lbs.

With a college career that began in 2018, Dennis Briggs Jr. will begin his 7^th year of college football in the fall. Briggs, Jr. recorded 14 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and two quarterback pressures in 2023. For his long college career, Briggs. Jr. has 78 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, four pass break ups, and eight quarterback pressures.

DB Kitan Crawford

Nevada Wolfpack (from Texas)

5’11”, 200 lbs.

A versatile athlete, Kitan Crawford recorded 24 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, and blocked a kick in 2023. In addition, he picked off a pass and broke up a pass. For his career, Crawford has 61 tackles to his credit and has a penchant for blocking kicks, as he has two in his collegiate career.
