Alabama suffers a major blow: State's top WR commits to one of Tide's fiercest rivals
Gary Cosby Jr.-Tuscaloosa News / USA TODAY NETWORK

Alabama has been the best team in college football for almost two decades. Still, the man behind all that, head coach Nick Saban, retired after the 2023 season, leaving the team to hire Kalen DeBoer as its new head coach. Of course, Alabama will lose players and recruits because Saban will no longer be its head coach.

Crimson Tide football is the biggest thing in the state of Alabama. It easily beats everything else, including Auburn football. Still, even at times, players from the state will not choose to play for the Crimson Tide or the Tigers, and on Tuesday, the best wide receiver in the state declined to play college football in Alabama.

Dillon Alfred commits to Ole Miss

Alfred is from Saraland, Alabama, and is ranked as the No. 1 wide receiver in the state in the 2025 class, according to On3.com.

Ole Miss is becoming a powerhouse

Ole Miss’s head coach, Lane Kiffin, has had a great offseason. It started when he went wild in the transfer portal this offseason, taking huge players. Now, he is crushing it when it comes to recruiting.

Ole Miss could be a legit threat in the SEC, and now, with Texas and Oklahoma coming to the conference, it just got a lot harder to win. Ole Miss is doing a great job making sure it will still be able to compete for many years down the road.
