Cal transfer linebacker Kalen Elarms-Orr announced this week on social media that he has committed to TCU.

By joining the Horned Frogs, Elarms-Orr will play for former Cal head coach Sonny Dykes, who is now TCU's head coach.

Elarms-Orr was a pleasant surprise for Cal this season. As a freshman in 2022, he played in 10 games off the bench, primarily on special teams, and did not record any statistics.

However, in 2023 as a sophomore, he was a starter at inside linebacker and finished third in the Pac-12 in tackles with 8.4 stops per game. He also had 3.5 tackles for loss, one interception, five pass breakups, six quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and one recovered fumble.

Elarms-Orr was rated a three-star recruit as a senior at Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, Calif., but he was considered an edge defender. Kansas, Arizona, Boise State and UNLV were among the schools that offered him along with Cal.

Elarms-Orr became the 14th transfer to join the TCU roster this offseason. He is also the second transfer linebacker to come to TCU. San Diego State's Cooper McDonald. also committed to TCU.

The Horned Frogs reached the national championship game last season in Dykes first year as TCU's head coach.  But TCU slipped to 5-7 this season, including 3-6 in the Big 12.

Dykes was Cal's head coach for four seasons from 2013 through 2016, and he had one winning season with the Bears, who went 8-5 in 2015. Cal's only bowl game under Dykes came in that 2015 season when Jared Goff guided Cal to victory over Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl.
