Elite Georgia TE reveals who is pushing him in workouts

It has been a great couple of years for the Georgia Bulldogs. Back-to-back national championships are nothing to scoff at.

It has also been a great few years to be a tight end for the Bulldogs. Darnell Washington was just selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Brock Bowers, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound junior, just had a tremendous season for UGA, notching 942 yards and seven touchdowns en route to being named the 2022 John Mackey Award Winner—which goes to the best tight end in college football.

UGA tight ends are "eating good" right now, as the kids say, and speaking of kids, Bowers thinks the next great Georgia tight end could be a young up-and-comer on the roster right now. He spoke highly of freshman tight end Lawson Luckie at SEC Media Days this week.

In fact, Bowers gave the former four-star tight end a tremendous compliment, saying that the freshman reminds him of someone he knows.

"Something that kind of reminded me of myself watching him is just how he works during our team runs and stuff like that," Bowers said. "He's out in the front running with me. We're kind of pushing each other. I mean, it kind of helps me too because the new guy comes in, [and] he's hungry. He's pushing me."

It's worth noting that Bowers did not give Luckie that much credit. He was asked who was the faster runner and he gave himself the undisputed nod.

Still, that's high praise from one of the best college tight ends we've seen in some time. Soon, Bowers will be competing in the NFL which means that there will be a hole on UGA's depth chart at tight end.

Perhaps it's safe to assume that Luckie will be the player to fill that hole when the time comes.
