Georgia Football beats out top SEC rivals to land their most important player in the 2025 recruiting class
USA TODAY Sports

Kirby Smart and Georgia Football recruiting are inevitable. Since Smart joined the Bulldogs they have posted eight straight Top 3 recruiting classes. And it looks like they're at it again this year after they just landed their most important player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Ryan Montgomery, a high four star quarterback recruit from Findlay, Ohio made it all but official Wednesday afternoon. He is committed to be a Georgia Bulldog in 2025. And the best part, outside of Georgia landing a top tier quarterback recruit? He brought out a bulldog to announce his commitment (as you can see in the post from 247Sports below). You love to see it.

Georgia had been chasing after Montgomery for a long time and truly needed him to commit seeing as the team still had no quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class. Yes, the Bulldogs already have Carson Beck, Gunner Stockton, and promising true freshman Ryan Puglisi. However, Beck will be gone after 2024, instantly making Montgomery the most proven high volume passer of all the likely quarterbacks for Georgia next year.

Montgomery shattered school records left and right last fall for the same high school that Ben Roethlisberger played for, tallying nearly 50 total touchdowns and almost 4000 total yards. He should immediately show up and compete for the starting job in year one in a battle with Stockton and Puglisi.

Which programs were truly in the mix?

According to Montgomery himself on Monday, things really came down to Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia. He loved the potential fit with Florida and their success in sending Anthony Richardson to the NFL here recently. And he loved the fact that South Carolina and Shane Beamer had made it clear he was their number one priority throughout this recruiting cycle. He just liked Georgia more.

Ohio State and Michigan had both been in the mix for multiple years, but the Buckeyes kept bringing in too many other top pedigree quarterbacks. As for Michigan, they just completely dropped the ball. Despite logging double-digit unofficial visits with him, winning the national championship last year, and having a clear need at quarterback right now, they still weren't even in his final three.

Georgia's Quarterback Future is Secured

Now that Montgomery is committed, Georgia has their entire quarterback future secured. Gunner Stockton is an incredible dual threat. Ryan Puglisi is the rocket armed former baseball player that can make every throw. Montgomery is the most proven arm and producer against solid competition coming in 2025. And even beyond that, Georgia just recently got a commitment from the number one quarterback recruit in 2026, Jared Curtis.

Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs continue to dominate the most important recruiting battles every single year. And if Carson Beck plays well enough this fall to get drafted in round one? Georgia might just lock in dynasty status for the next decade, winning any quarterback battle they want to with ease.
