Mack Brown: "Georgia Tech is a game that has been tough for us"
USA TODAY Sports

Both North Carolina and Georgia Tech are coming off of disappointing losses over the weekend and have to regroup before facing each other in Atlanta on Saturday.

Outside of Georgia Tech fans, most would not know that the Yellow Jackets have won two in a row and four of the last five against North Carolina. Georgia Tech also leads in the all-time series 32-21.

Last season, Georgia Tech held UNC to its season-low in points, in total yards, and Heisman-contending quarterback Drake Maye to his season-low in total passing yards, and the Yellow Jackets pulled a stunning upset as a three-touchdown underdog that was down their top two quarterbacks.

When talking with the media on Monday, North Carolina head coach Mack Brown talked about the matchup on Saturday with Brent Key and the Yellow Jackets and how tough of a game it has been for his program:

"Georgia Tech is a game that has been tough for us. Atlanta has not been good to the Tar Heel, we have lost 10 of 12. Hear me now. We have lost 10 of the last 12 games in Atlanta to Georgia Tech. Everyone thinks that we have Miami's number because we have beaten them five in a row, well Georgia Tech has had North Carolina's number, and before I got here, in Atlanta so that makes this a game where people project that we lose. Period. Because we have. 10 out of 12 is pretty good percentages. They will be excited and they will feel like they are going to win because they have and we will have our hands full.

Brent Key has done a great job, he is a Georgia Tech alum and has pulled them all together and they are playing really hard and he will have them ready to go with a whole lot of energy and we have to do the same thing"

In addition to homecoming festivities and ACCN’s on-campus programming, the Oct. 28 game against UNC will feature Georgia Tech’s On-Campus Salute to Paul Johnson in honor of his upcoming induction to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Both of these teams are coming off of losses yesterday, Georgia Tech losing as a home favorite to Boston College and North Carolina losing in the upset of the day against 1-5 Virginia. Both teams are looking to bounce back and for Georgia Tech, it will be about keeping their bowl game hopes alive and for the Tar Heels, it will be about trying to stay alive in the ACC Championship race.

Georgia Tech vs North Carolina will kick off at 8:00 p.m. on the ACC Network.
