Michigan’s Jake Moody Using NIL For a Good Cause

Moody is partnering with sponsors in order to help donate to the Mott Children’s Hospital. His “Good For Three” campaign is a program where for each field goal that Moody makes, the hospital gets $300. The money comes from a collection of sponsors as well as Moody himself. In a press conference, Moody talked about how he knows someone personally with pediatric cancer so this is a cause that is near and dear to his heart. It is great to see Jake Moody using NIL money for a good cause.

The question that everyone has when you see a program like this is how much money will be donated? Last season, Moody went 23 for 25 on field goals. This year, Moody is off to strong start going 3 for 3 in Saturday’s win over Colorado State. The consensus AP All American looks to be picking up right where he left off last season. The Michigan offense looks poised to have plenty of opportunities for Jake Moody this season.

Character Building At Michigan

This offseason, Jim Harbaugh took the team on a trip to Flint where they spent a day giving back to the community. Giving back seems to be a character quality that Michigan is trying to instill in their players. It seems to be working. With the installation of NIL, some athletes are making quite a lot of money. It would be easy for a lot of them to keep money for themselves and spend lavishly. However, Jake Moody is using the NIL for a good cause which is great to see.

It will be interesting to see if any other players follow suit. Generosity is not limited to Michigan as many other players have been willing to help others with their new found money. This is exactly what you want to see NIL do with players and I for one am excited to see the impact it has on communities.
