NCAAF Week 4: Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish betting picks, preview

This is one of the most anticipated games of the season. Both teams are undefeated and whoever wins immediately becomes a favorite for the playoffs, if they are not already. Both could rebound too, and have schedules that could get them back in line, but the odds are that a loss probably reveals a fatal flaw that means another team will get them later in the year too. You are definitely watching this game so let's find the right side to back.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish Betting Trends and Odds

Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 — 7 p.m. ET

Odds: Ohio State -3, Over/under 55.5, Ohio State -148 | Notre Dame +125

Notre Dame is not a home underdog often but this line makes sense. Ohio State has the more talented roster, even if there are question marks about how good this team is compared to recent versions (especially at quarterback). This one is sitting right on the key number of -3 and is going to have a ton of public and professional action.

Pick for Ohio State vs. Notre Dame

Ohio State -3

Ohio State is loaded with talent once again but the quarterback position is not set like it has been in the past. That is one area where Notre Dame has the advantage with Sam Hartman, but I am still picking Ohio State (it might be the only area). I think OSU head coach Ryan Day is going to have a really good game plan and I love the way they have NFL-caliber weapons at wide receiver and in the backfield, so they are not going to be too predictable. The distance between these teams is not great enough that the Buckeyes are going to dominate though and Hartman is going to be able to keep bringing the Irish back but that line is telling us the gap between these teams is significant enough for OSU to be favored on the road. I believe it. 31-21?

This game is definitely going to be in teasers, and in both directions. Folks will be chasing it too because it is at night. Still, it might just hold where it is right now.
