Ole Miss adds a familiar offensive playmaker via the transfer portal
Petre Thomas-USA TODAY Sports

You'll be hard pressed to find another team in the country that has dominated the transfer portal the way that Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels have.

Kiffin and the Rebels, who take no days off in the portal, just picked up a commitment from a familiar face in running back Henry Parrish Jr. out of the University of Miami.

Parrish spent his first two seasons at Ole Miss, but followed his primary recruiter and running backs coach Kevin Smith down to Coral Gables following the 2021 season. Smith, who was once again hired as the Rebels' running backs coach last offseason, likely played a major factor in Parrish's return to Ole Miss.

In his two years with the Rebels, Parrish accumulated 816 rushing yards on 161 carries (5.3 yards per carry) with five scores on the ground.

In the same amount of time with the Hurricanes, Parrish racked up 1,241 yards on 230 carries (5.0 YPC) with 10 rushing touchdowns. He also added 28 catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns in the receiving game. Parrish is coming off of a 2023 season in which he earned Third-Team All-ACC honors.

He will join a crowded Ole Miss backfield with returnee Ulysses Bentley IV, along with New Mexico transfer Jacory Croskey-Merritt and LSU transfer Logan Diggs.

Bentley was the Rebels' second-leading rusher with 540 rushing yards and four touchdowns just a season ago. Meanwhile Croskey-Merritt tallied 1,190 rushing yards with 17 touchdowns for the Lobos. Diggs is working his way back from an ACL injury, but will be thrown into the rotation as soon as he gets back to 100 percent.

Parrish joins an elite transfer portal class featuring DT Walter Nolen (Texas A&M), DE Princely Umanmielen (Florida) and WR Antwane 'Juice' Wells (South Carolina) as the 18th player to transfer to the 'Sip this offseason.
