The Penn State Nittany Lions had a very par-for-the-course season. While they were consistently ranked in the top 25, they could not beat the top teams in the conference, Ohio State and Michigan. The program is able to put together a lot of wins but not the ones that will push them into the College Football Playoff conversation. Another wave of players are starting to enter the transfer portal and Penn State WR Dante Cephas announced he is entering.
Penn State wide receiver Dante Cephas is expected to enter the transfer portal, a source tells @On3sports.
He appeared in 12 games this past season while making six starts. Another multi-time transfer hitting the portal.

Cephas came to the program last season from Kent State. He had a lot of hype going into the season. Cephas was on the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list after receiving first-team All-MAC honors the previous year. Unfortunately, 2023 did not play out favorably. Due to inconsistent quarterback play, Cephas was only able to rack up 22 catches for 246 yards and two touchdowns. Because of the new NCAA guidelines, Cephas will be eligible to play right away.
Head coach James Franklin has a lot of pressure to win in 2024. They have a very favorable schedule playing a good mix of beatable teams plus top-tier programs. Games against USC, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Washington are the biggest matchups. The team has to show that they can win at least some of those games. If the Nittany Lions go 0-4 in those contests, there might be some big changes coming to Happy Valley.
Can Penn State keep its status as one of the conference’s best in 2024? With all the new teams being added it is going to be difficult.
