The Pitt Panthers lost Solomon DeShields to the transfer portal earlier this week and today they made an attempt to replace him.

On Friday, Pitt extended an offer to Jacksonville State linebacker Larry Worth, who will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

As a freshman, Worth was a mostly a backup linebacker, making 20 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and once forced fumble.

Worth’s role changed this past season, playing in all 13 games and starting four of them. During his time on the field, Worth was extremely productive, making 63 tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

In Jacksonville State’s bowl game against Louisiana-Lafayette, Worth had his best game of the season, collecting a career-high 12 tackles, 2 tackles for loss and a sack.

Along with Pitt, Worth has also received offers from Arkansas and Minnesota, while receiving interest from Oregon, Duke and Cincinnati. This weekend, Worth is on a visit to Arkansas.

Worth becomes the 4th player in the transfer portal to receive an offer from Pitt this week (DE Anthony Johnson/Illinois, DE Deamonte Diggs/Youngstown State and DE Keyron Crawford/Arkansas State).
