Poll Report: Oklahoma Tumbles After Loss to Kansas
Evert Nelson / The Capital-Journal-USA TODAY NETWORK

Mistakes finally did Oklahoma in on Saturday.

The Sooners (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) fell to the Kansas Jayhawks (6-2, 3-2) 38-33 at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence after OU stubbed its toe over and over.

KU’s win busted the Big 12 Conference race wide open, as there are now five teams with one loss in league play vying to get to Arlington in December.

As was expected, the Sooners were punished for their miscues in the polls on Sunday.

Oklahoma fell four spots in the AP Poll, checking in at No. 10, and OU slid to No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Brent Venables’ team won’t have any time to lick their wounds this week.

Up next is Oklahoma’s final trip to Stillwater for the foreseeable future to take on the resurgent Oklahoma State Cowboys.

After dropping back-to-back games to South Alabama and Iowa State early in the year, Mike Gundy has funneled his offense through star running back Ollie Gordon, sparking the Cowboys to four straight wins.

Oklahoma State wasn’t ranked in this week’s AP Top 25, but the Cowboys were the next team left off, leading all other teams who also received votes.

The final Bedlam battle as Big 12 foes will kick off at 2:30 on Saturday on ABC.
