After San José State formally introduced Ken Niumatalolo as the program's next head coach this week, one of the program's former assistants appears to have followed Brent Brennan to the University of Arizona.
Footballscoop.com is reporting that Spartans' running backs coach Alonzo Carter will join Brennan's staff in the same position after seven seasons in San José.
It's a significant loss for SJSU, as Carter was a talented recruiter with deep roots in California, specifically the Bay Area.
Additionally, Carter coached a number of talented running backs for the Spartans such as SJSU's 2023 leading rusher Kairee Robinson. Carter will also reunite with running back Quali Conley, who has transferred to Arizona from SJSU. Conley was the Spartans' second leading rusher in 2023 with 842 yards and nine touchdowns.
Prior to Niumatalolo's hire, Carter was named by several outlets, including G5 Football Daily, as a name to watch in the candidate pool for the SJSU head coach job.
