TCU Football: West Virginia Halftime Report
USA TODAY Sports

TCU started the game strong on defense, holding West Virginia to a three-and-out on the opening drive.

TCU only needed four plays to get the scoring started, with a 59-yard touchdown pass to JP Richardson on a nice throw in traffic from Chandler Morris.

West Virginia responded quickly with a 35-yard touchdown rush from Garrett Greene. That was the first rush of over 20 yards that the TCU defense has given up this season.

TCU moved the ball well on their second offensive drive, but a miscommunication on a third down play led to a field goal attempt for Griffin Kell that was tipped and was no good.

TCU's defense regained after their previous time on the field. Bud Clark nearly came up with his third interception on the year, but after review, it was ruled an incomplete pass. West Virginia was forced to punt the ball.

The Horned Frogs started the second quarter with a 31-yard touchdown rush from Chandler Morris. On a read option play, the entire defense committed to Emani Bailey, leaving Morris with a wide-open lane down the left side of the field.

The second quarter was continued with multiple stalled possessions from both teams. With 1:50 left on the clock in the second quarter, West Virginia's CJ Donaldson punched it into the endzone to tie the game at 14 points a piece.

TCU responded quickly with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Wright. Morris found Wright on a ten-yard crosser over the middle, and Wright did the rest, finding the left corner of the endzone.

Going into halftime, TCU is leading 21-14. The secondary has looked fantastic, holding West Virginia to only two completed passes in the first half. The offense has over 300 yards in the first half but only three touchdowns to show. The second half looks like a promise to be an excellent finish to a tremendous first half.
