This stat proves Jase McClellan is amongst the most physical backs in the nation
Gary Cosby Jr. / USA TODAY NETWORK

Alabama has not been consistently productive in its rushing attack; however, its backs are not at fault.

Jase McClellan, a senior, is having a good year through six games.

He leads the Crimson Tide with 79 carries for 371 yards and three touchdowns. The native Texan has a 100-yard rushing performance against Mississippi (17 carries, 105 yards) and recorded a crucial reception from Jalen Milroe against Texas A&M last week to seal a victory. Alabama’s offensive line has to continue improving, but McClellan has made his mark among the most physical backs in college football. He is averaging almost five yards per carry (4.70) and Pro Football Focus revealed an interesting stat on the former four-star. McClellan could see his output increase if he continues to trend up in this category.

He is tied for fourth-highest in college football (Power 5 programs) in forcing missed tackles.

McClellan has forced 32 missed tackles on the season. He carries the size, speed, vision, patience, cutback abilities, contact balance, and explosiveness to make plays. McClellan also has versatility as a receiving option out of the backfield.

We will see how he performs against Arkansas, but Tide fans want more out of its running game.
