Top five Badgers players now on Madden 23
Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt (90) tops the list of highest ranked former Badgers players on Madden 23. Philip G. Pavely-USA TODAY Sports

Every year a new Madden game is revealed. As sports fans and gamers both get in on the excitement of all the new players on the game. Also being debated is the grades given to all the NFL players during that year. Some players are happy with their grade but most feel slighted or underrated by their rating. So I thought why not look at the Wisconsin Badgers former players that are now on Madden and see who has the highest rating. We will check out the top five with a little history of each one and their college and pro stats.

1)T.J. Watt- LB- 96

T.J. Watt tops the list of highest ranked former Badgers players on Madden 23. The 6’5″ outside linebacker was drafted 30th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers. His college stats that led to him being a first round draft pick was 70 tackles(TCK), 17 tackles for a loss (TFL), 11.5 sacks, and 1 interception (INT). Since being drafted Watts has been a top defensive player in the NFL and his stats improved every year.Last year was his sixth year in the league during which he had his most dominant season. Earning him a 96 rating his stats last season was 64 tackles, 21 TFL , 22.5 sacks, and 39 QB hits.

2) Jonathan Taylor – RB – 95

The Indianapolis Colts had the best runningback in the league last season. Taylor’s rating lands right up under Watt in this list. His last year in college former Badgers players had 320 attempts for 2003 yards scoring 26 touchdowns. The Colts drafted him in the second round number 44th overall. He is had two seasons in the NFL with last year being a breakout session for him. Taylor’s stats last season was 332 attempts for 1811 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is predicted to be better this year so on next seasons Madden list his ratings could be even better.

3) Ryan Ramczyk – OT- 89

New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk sits at third on this list. He was drafted in the first round pick number 32 overall by the Saints. His protection and ability to keep edge rushers off the quarterback has given him the Madden rating this year. He’s a beast on the line.

4) Russell Wilson – QB – 87

Russell Wilson played three rears at North Carolina before transferring to Wisconsin for his final year of college. He threw for over 3000 yards his last two seasons in North Carolina and over 3000 yards again his only and final year at Wisconsin. His stats that year was 3175 passing yards with a 72.8 completion percentage. He threw 38 touchdowns and only four interactions. Since he’s been in the NFL he has been a top five or top 10 QB every year and winning a Superbowl. His Madden rating was actually a lot higher but last year was a down seasons that dropped his ratings. This season will be his first no with the Seahawks so I look for Wilson’s rating to go up for next year’s game after he has a bounce back season.

5) J.J. Watt -DE- 87

Once considered the best defensive player in the NFL for a few seasons, age and injuries have chipped away at his stats. J.J. Watt had the highest rating for a defensive end at the time with a 99 rating. Now after a few seasons of injuries and a lot lower stats he finds himself rated 87. His sack totals was around 20 for a few seasons back between 2012-2015 earned him the 99 rating. Comparing to the last two seasons Watt has had five and zero sacks respectfully.

Well here we had the former Wisconsin Badgers players with the highest Madden ratings for 2023. As you may know these ratings change not only once a year at new game releases but also throughout the year as it is updated compared to their play. So I will keep this list current as it changes.
