Kings Mountain High School (N.C.) edge rusher Curtis Simpson, one of 20 in the 2024 UNC football class who intend to enroll early, is an longtime follower of the Tar Heels . In June, he committed to Mack Brown and his staff while on an official visit in Chapel Hill.

And on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period, he put in ink.

Simpson, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound three-star, ranks No. 714 overall and No. 23 in the state on the 247Sports 2024 Composite.

After receiving his signed national letter of intent, the Tar Heels' social media team gave him a shoutout with the following personalized videos:

Here's a summary scouting report on the formidable defender from 247Sports' Don Callahan:

"In high school, Simpson was a sack machine: 13 sacks in 12 games as a senior. From his track-line stance, he has a volcanic first step that can put offensive linemen on skates. He then relentlessly attacks the line of scrimmage with his agility and closes quickly on the ball carrier. He uses his hands to ward off blockers but isn't a pass-rush technician."

The 2024 UNC football recruiting haul is the program's deepest in 15 years. It consists of 27 prizes, all signed, and ranks No. 26 in the country.
