AUSTIN, Texas -- In the final season of the four-team tournament, the Texas Longhorns have earned the No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoff and will face the No. 2 Washington Huskies in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Monday, Jan 1.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and linebacker Jaylan Ford spoke to the media right after the top four was announced, and are ready for the rematch with a chance to go to the National Championship.

But first, the Longhorns will need to catch up on their sleep after Saturday's Big 12 title win as they get ready for the biggest game the program has played in since the 2009 BCS title game.

"I didn't sleep very well honestly," Ewers said. "I kept waking up throughout the night but I'll definitely be able to get some rest today and tonight."

As someone who grew up a Texas fan, Ewers said the opportunity to compete for a national title is an honor.

"It's unreal. I mean, I can I get goosebumps every time I even think about it," Ewers said. "Again, just truly honored to be a part of a team that works as hard and I know that we're gonna come to play."

Ford admitted that some doubt set in after he and the team watched the Florida State Seminoles beat the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC Championship on Saturday night to move to 13-0. However, FSU got left out and finished in the No. 5 spot, while Alabama earned the No. 4 seed.

"We watched the Bama game on the bus," Ford said. "And then we see Bama win and we're like, 'Okay, we got a chance.'? I watched the Florida State game at home, and then that kind of gave me a little doubt. Just because you never know."

But there's no doubt now: the Longhorns are in the CFP and are two wins away from their first National Championship since the 2005 season.
