MTV recently announced Lopez as this year's Video Vanguard Award winner, the VMA lifetime achievement that honors artists with contributing to the industry and defining their status as pop icons. One of the key factors of being named a Video Vanguard is how an artist has created visuals to influence others. Jennifer's first single from her debut album "On The 6" is a sign of the times. The late ‘90s was when the internet started to boom, and video director Paul Hunter used this concept to the fullest. The visual showed a fan being able to see a live feed of Jennifer in her home, a concept making web cameras and cyberspace all the rage. The J.Lo name is born! "Love Don’t Cost a Thing" became one of Jennifer’s most popular videos on MTV, BET and VH1. The video plays into the song lyrics as the singer is seen angry at her boyfriend for never being around but showers her with lavish gifts. She worked with director Paul Hunter and choreographer Darrin Dewitt Henson, who’s created dance routines for artists such as Jordan Knight, Britney Spears and 'N Sync. Watch the full video here

Director Herb Ritts was widely known for videos being colorized in non-traditional tones such as Michael Jackson’s “In The Closet” and Mariah Carey’s “My All.” He kept that same eye for Jennifer’s single “Ain’t It Funny” being filmed in a sepia tone. The concept features the singer going to a fortune-teller and eventually falling in love with a man. Jennifer Lopez released two videos for her hit song, “I’m Real.” One for the original where she’s seen riding a motorcycle as kids run after her, another for the remix with Ja Rule showing life in the inner city. However, it’s the original song that gives viewers a taste of the singer’s smooth dance moves. Photographer and music video director David LaChapelle has worked with many artists, including Whitney Houston, Moby and Amy Winehouse. LaChapelle came up with the concept for “I’m Glad” as an homage to one of Jennifer’s favorite movies “Flashdance.” The video is similar to the film’s storyline as the singer plays an aspiring dancer, holding a welding job during the day, and a dancing job at night. Although there isn’t a famous J.Lo dance break in this video, she gives fans more of freestyle dance routine thanks to choreographer Frank Gaston Jr., who's known for working with artists like Michael Jackson, Usher, Rihanna and Destiny's Child.
