20 of the best 2000s movie duos

Having on-screen chemistry doesn’t only matter when the pair are romantic. No, a pair of actors, even ones just playing friends, need to have that extra something special between them to make their friendships believable, and no one did it quite like the twosomes sprinkled throughout cinema in the days of frosted tips and Pepsi Blue. That’s right, these are the best movie duos of the 2000s.

Kuzco & Pacha, 'The Emperor's New Groove'

Kuzco & Pacha, 'The Emperor's New Groove'
Walt Disney Pictures

Disney hit their highest marks in the ‘90s, so the 2000s were a bit rough. However, a few golden gems came from that post-Renaissance era, like the unlikely friendship between a spoiled royal who was turned into a llama and a simple family man.

Seth & Evan, 'Superbad'

Seth & Evan, 'Superbad'
Sony Pictures

Not every movie needs a sequel, and Superbad is wonderful on its own, but plenty of people would love to see how Seth and Evan are doing as adults now that they’d be well out of college. Would they still be the best of friends who could make it through anything, including McLovin, failed beer runs, and crushes?

Tess & Anna Coleman, 'Freaky Friday'

Tess & Anna Coleman, 'Freaky Friday'
Walt Disney Pictures

Lindsay Lohan managed to star in two remakes that were so good, they often make people forget the originals. That includes Freaky Friday,  where she perfectly starred opposite Jamie Lee Curtis. Their mother-and-daughter drama was flawless.

Jesse & Chester, 'Dude, Where's My Car?'

Jesse & Chester, 'Dude, Where's My Car?'
20th Century Fox

One can’t talk about the 2000s without mentioning the trucker hat himself, Ashton Kutcher. In all seriousness, Kutcher and Seann William Scott played the absolute most endearing…idiots ever. Someone cast them in another movie together, stat!

Molly & Ray, 'Uptown Girls'

Anytime there is a chance to shine a light on the talent that was the late, great Brittany Murphy, one has to take it. She and Dakota Fanning were a joy together in Uptown Girls.

Vanessa & Barry B. Benson, 'Bee Movie'

Vanessa & Barry B. Benson, 'Bee Movie'

The jury is still out on whether Vanessa would have hooked up with a legit insect, but the evidence is part of the reason Bee Movie has continued to be a fan-favorite.

John & Jeremy, 'Wedding Crashers'

John & Jeremy, 'Wedding Crashers'

Vince Vaughn’s desperate attempt to leave this nightmare situation compared to Owen Wilson’s desperate attempt at a relationship with a woman who’s got a man, comedy gold.

16 of 20

Shrek & Donkey, ‘Shrek’

Shrek & Donkey, ‘Shrek’

It’s like Paula Abdul saw into the future and wrote “Opposites Attract” for the Shrek soundtrack. Really, though, no one could’ve known how well an ogre and a donkey would get along — well, eventually.

19 of 20

Danny & Wheeler, 'Role Models'

Danny & Wheeler, 'Role Models'
