25 songs that could be summer 2020 anthems

With summer nearly upon us, people should be making plans for vacation getaways, music festivals, day parties and fun in the sun. Well, as the world continues to deal with a pandemic, plans such as those are put on hold with orders of self-isolation, quarantine and sheltering in place.

As 2020 has the world living in uncertain times, music can be a healing power that continues to ease a listener's mind. Although festivities may be at a halt, thankfully artists are still releasing music to put listeners in a brighter mood during such trying times, helping people to get through their day-to-day lives. Here are 25 songs that could potentially rule the summer, even if that means listeners have to make their own fun.

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion and her hottie fan base made big waves in 2019 when she released her "Fever" EP. In 2020, she followed up with "Suga" which earned a rising hit for her single, "Savage." Fellow Houston native Beyoncé added a fiery element to the "Savage (Remix)," earning Megan the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Megan and Bey are here to make sure all fans will still have a hot girl summer, quarantine or not.

The Weeknd is known for experimenting with different sounds as he progresses in his career, and this album was no different as it included elements of '80s retro and electropop. One of the standout tracks is "Blinding Lights," in which The Weeknd goes through a life of distractions but is comforted when he's around his significant other.

Aiko took her 2011 song "Hoe" and turned it into "Happiness Over Everything" with Miguel singing sweet melodies on the hook and Future offering an extra verse.

On "Go Crazy," the two use a sweet sample of The Showboys' hit song "Drag Rap" as they want their significant others to be as wild as they want during the late hours. "Go Crazy" could be the perfect party record, once clubs are open again for business.

However, once Doja added Nicki Minaj to the official remix, the track landed the two rappers their first No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It's safe to say that women are running the rap world, and the future is bright.

The production draws listeners in with a Latin hip-hop beat as Cabello sings about letting go of a good girl image. R&B singer SZA recently teamed up with Justin Timberlake on "The Other Side," a lead duet from the "Trolls World Tour" soundtrack. While fans are used to hearing Timberlake perform a dance-heavy track, it's a different type of sound for SZA fans. "The Other Side" gives a '70s disco sound as the two sing about appreciating life because the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
