'A Quiet Place Part II' set for Memorial Day Weekend release

A Quiet Place Part II  made noise Thursday night when John Krasinski revealed the sequel will hit theaters Memorial Day Weekend on May 28, nearly four months earlier than its previous Sept. 17 date:

The rollout was originally supposed to happen last March, but Paramount Pictures delayed the worldwide release as public health and safety concerns mounted at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

Krasinski commented back then, too:

A Quiet Place premiered in April 2018. The sci-fi thriller saw Krasinski as co-screenwriter, director and leading man.

In the Oscar-winning original, The Office alum co-starred alongside powerhouse award-winning actress and real-life wife, Emily Blunt, as parents trying to preserve their family in a post-apocalyptic world. The Abbotts must live in total silence to avoid being ravaged by monsters who hunt by their acute sense of hearing.

Part II will have the Abbotts venturing out as a means of continued survival following the deaths of Lee (Krasinski) and Beau (Cade Woodward) in the first film. "Forced to venture into the unknown, they quickly realize that the creatures that hunt by sound are not the only threats that lurk beyond the sand path," reads Paramount's official tagline.

Krasinski also directed and wrote the sequel.
