Following a stellar season, the Kentucky Wildcats defeated the Kansas Jayhawks to claim the title of 2012 NCAA Champions in men’s basketball. Fresh off the team’s win, Kentucky alum and school superfan, Ashley Judd, is celebrating with a new range of women’s gear. Many know Ashley for her acting pursuits, but sports fans know her as one of the most visible and passionate supporters of Kentucky hoops. When it comes to her alma-mater, she’s often a fixture in the stands. To further showcase her dedcation to the Wildcats, Judd has teamed up with Original Retro Brand, a company known for its fashion-forward, sports-inspired tees, to design a line of Kentucky-themed apparel.
The Ashley Judd University of Kentucky Vintage Apparel Collection includes a range of women’s fitted tees and sweatshirts in school hues and featuring Kentucky graphics. The special collection translates Judd’s love of the game and the team into sideline fashions. Her devotion to Kentucky runs deep, as evident in details that were incorporated in the gear. Ashley explained:
“I have great passion for UK. It brings back so many wonderful memories about my life on campus, as well as cherished family stories about generations of my family supporting the Wildcats and higher education. I am very excited to be working with Original Retro Brand to launch this special apparel line. The images are inspired by my impressions from the 1970’s, listening to my grandparents, aunts, and uncles talk about the Big Blue, their wonderful t shirts from that era and UK images around the Commonwealth. Original Retro Brand has captured exactly what I envisioned for this collection in terms of style and quality celebrating the history and spirit of UK pride.”
The collection will be sold at retailers including the University of Kentucky Bookstore, Alumni Hall and Fan Outfitters throughout Kentucky as well as online at www.originalretrobrand.com. Check it out:
