Billie Eilish breaks Instagram likes record in process of debuting blonde hair

Billie Eilish has long rocked green roots, and she ironically chose St. Patrick's Day to ditch green in favor of blonde.

The 19-year-old posted a photo of her new look and needed just one hour to collect one million likes, breaking an Instagram record previously held by Selena Gomez since 2018 (h/t NME):

At the time of this writing, the post has just over 18 million likes and figures to keep climbing within the top-10 most-liked Instagram posts of all time.

Before the photo in question, Eilish posted a video of her hair-flipping into the frame with her new hair. She captioned it, nodding toward her fans' collective hunch that a new era was on the horizon, "Did you guess correctly?" The video has been viewed over 23.5 million times.

Last Sunday, Eilish bumped her Grammy win total to seven. She claimed record of the year (for a second straight year) for "Everything I Wanted" as well as best song written for visual media with "No Time To Die" from the forthcoming James Bond film of the same name.

Eilish performed the former—black hair and green roots still in tact—to open the 63rd Grammy Awards:

If it isn't obvious enough yet, everything the "Bad Guy" singer-songwriter does garners attention. Eilish was the center of a particularly endearing moment when she and her brother/producer, Finneas, used her record of the year acceptance speech to tell Megan Thee Stallion she actually deserved the honor:

And if you can't get enough, the Los Angeles native' documentary Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry is available on Apple TV Plus. It is, unsurprisingly, already almost unanimously acclaimed.
