Bob Odenkirk confirms 'small heart attack: 'I'm going to take a beat to recover but I'll be back soon'

It has been a scary week for Bob Odenkirk, but it's luckily ending with a sigh of relief.

The beloved 58-year-old multi-hyphenate confirmed Friday afternoon (July 30) that he is recovering from "a small heart attack":

TMZ first reported Tuesday (July 27) that Odenkirk had collapsed while shooting the sixth and final season of Better Call Saul in New Mexico and was rushed to a local hospital, which was confirmed by Variety.

Representatives for Odenkirk provided a statement on the incident, relayed by The Hollywood Reporter's Lesley Goldberg on Wednesday (July 28):

"We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart-related incident. He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery."

"Sources say production was a little more than halfway done on the final season at the time of Odenkirk’s heart attack," Goldberg added. "Production remained halted Wednesday as everyone involved with the series remains focused on Odenkirk’s health. It’s unclear how long production will remain down."

The "outpouring of love" Odenkirk referred to included his former Breaking Bad co-stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul:

Odenkirk joined Breaking Bad in its second season as crooked attorney Saul Goodman. In the 16-time Emmy-winning series, high school chemistry teacher Walter White (Cranston) became desperate to bolster his family's finances after a lung cancer diagnosis and joined forces with Jesse Pinkman (Paul) to make and sell meth. The unlikely pair turned to Goodman in an April 2009 episode titled "Better Call Saul."

Better Call Saul is the prequel spin-off series starring Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill before he developed his Goodman alias.
