Celebrity couples who work together often

Who says you can’t mix your professional life and your personal life? In the world of entertainment, there are many couples who have made a habit of working together. Fortunately, it seems to work out a lot of the time. For this look into couples who have often worked together, we are focusing on married folks and couples who have been together so long they are effectively married in everything but name. Also, we have included some couples who are no longer together. Their work lives on, even if their relationships, unfortunately, did not.

Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone

Falcone had a small role in McCarthy’s breakout film “Bridesmaids,” but there are some who kind of wish the two wouldn’t work together as often. While we hope they make each other – and their children – happy, the fact is the films they have collaborated on together are usually McCarthy’s less well-received flicks. Falcone has written and directed movies such as “Tammy,” “The Boss,” and “The Life of the Party.”

Hey did you know Mullally and Offerman are married? We’re joking, because the two are constantly popping up together, both as characters and as themselves, and discussing their love as well as their attraction to each other. We just hope their relationship is more stable than the one between Ron Swanson and Tammy 2.

They haven't worked together a ton just yet, but Dunst and Plemons have done some great work together so we are still including them. The best season of "Fargo" focused on Dunst and Plemons playing a couple. They appeared as a couple again in "The Power of the Dog," a movie that they were both nominated for Oscars.

Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor

If you are of a certain age, you remember Taylor as Melody from “Hey Dude.” We probably don’t need to jog your memory on who Stiller is. Stiller and Taylor were married in 2000, though they separated 17 years later. However, in those years Taylor had supporting roles in several Stiller movies, including “Zoolander” where she plays his love interest.

Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach

Noah Baumbach had a notable romance prior to his relationship with Gerwig, as he was married to the actress Jennifer Jason Leigh. They split in 2010, and their divorce was final in 2013. Gerwig, meanwhile, first acted in a Baumbach movie in 2010’s “Greenberg” and the two were officially an item as of 2011. We won’t delve too deep into the timeline on that. We’ll just know the two co-wrote Baumbach’s films “Frances Ha” and “Mistress America,” in which Gerwig starring in both. The roles were flipped for "Barbie," with Gerwig directing and Baumbach co-writing the script.

Oh, you know, just two of the biggest stars in the world. Two titans of music. A true musical power couple. They have their separate incredible careers, but there have been plenty of collaborations as well. We have three words for you: “Crazy in Love.”

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter

When Burton and the actress and model Lisa Marie were together, she would often have roles in his films, such as “Ed Wood” and “Mars Attacks.” They were usually tertiary roles, though. The collaborations between Burton and Bonham Carter in their time together were a little meatier. She is, after all, the titular corpse bride in “Corpse Bride.” Also, both Lisa Marie and Bonham Carter were in Burton’s version of “Planet of the Apes.” That’s a little awkward.

Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann

Sometimes it feels like Apatow only makes movies to cast his family. If it’s an Apatow film, you can bet his wife Mann is going to show up, and there’s also a good chance that his daughters will appear as well. Not that it’s pure nepotism, as Mann is a talented actress who also works plenty when her husband Apatow isn’t around.

If you are a country music fan of a certain age, Hill and McGraw are both huge stars to you. They both began their careers before marrying in 1996, but they have become country royalty together. McGraw and Hill have toured together, and they also made a record together, 2017’s “The Rest of Our Life.”

The two Spanish actors both starred together in 1992’s “Jamon, Jamon,” but at the time they were just two ships passing in the night. Bardem and Cruz actually wouldn’t become a couple until 2007, perhaps while shooting 2008’s “Vicky Christina Barcelona,” one of three films they have made together. By the way, this is the rare Hollywood couple where both partners have Oscars.

Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale

While they aren’t married, Byrne and Cannavale have been together since 2012 and have two kids together, so they definitely count for this list. They’ve made a couple of films together, including the big action comedy “Spy,” where they both had key supporting roles. Both Byrne and Cannavale can go between comedy and drama quite well, and you can see them both on the TV show “Mrs. America.”

Alison Brie and Dave Franco

The year 2017 was a massive one for Brie and Franco. They both were in two films that came out that year, “The Little Hours” and “The Disaster Artist.” Oh, and they got married as well. That was probably pretty important to them too.

Kate Beckinsale and Len Wiseman

Beckinsale and Wiseman were both in long relationships when she got the starring role in his 2003 film “Underworld.” By 2004 they were married to one another. The two then proceeded to make a few more “Underworld” films together, as well as Wiseman’s “Total Recall” remake. Alas, their love affair was not meant to last. Wiseman filed for divorce in 2016, the same year “Underworld: Blood Wars” came out. Beckinsale was back to star, but Wiseman did not direct.

Thankfully, Fred and Daphne are still together. Or, rather, the actors who played Fred and Daphne in two “Scooby-Doo” movies. Prinze Jr. and the once-and-future Vampire Slayer Geller met while making the forgettable slasher flick “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” It worked out for them, at least, as the couple got married in 2002 and are still together. Considering how young they were when they met, that’s pretty incredible. Jinkies!

Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz

Some consider Kasseem Dean, aka Swizz Beatz, the best rap producer of all time. And by “some,” we mean “Kanye West,” who said that very thing. He’s not the only one who loves Beatz’s work, and it seems like Keys loves both him and his production skills. Married since 2010, Beatz has produced several of Keys’ songs, and also a few songs she has a supporting role.

Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin

“True Blood” was big for the careers of Moyer and Paquin, but also their personal lives. The two met filming the pilot and immediately began dating. They stayed together, making it through the many sex scenes the two had with other actors on the show. Hey, it’s a living, right? Outside of making dozens of episodes of “True Blood” together they made the movie “The Parting Glass” together and voiced characters in the same “Phineas & Ferb” episode.

Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa

Bruce is a guy who is loyal to his bandmates, and many of the members of the E Street Band have been with him for decades. That includes Scialfa, who first played with the band on the Born in the USA tour. The exact time when the two began their relationship is a little murky, and a bit tawdry, but we know this much for sure: The two married in 1991 and Scialfa has been a member of the E Street Band since.

Will Arnett and Amy Poehler

Arnett and Poehler starred in two of the most beloved sitcoms of the new millennium, and they both made guest appearances on one another’s shows. Poehler played Gob’s unnamed wife in a few “Arrested Development” episodes, while Arnett plays a guy Leslie goes on a terrible date within “Parks and Recreation. Also, they played siblings in “Blades of Glory,” which got weird. The two married in 2003 but divorced in 2016.

Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell

OK, so Rhys and Russell have only been in one thing together, but it was a TV show. They starred in every episode of “The Americans” together, which means a lot of working together. We also wanted to include it because they met on the show playing spies in a sham marriage, and then they ended up actually romantically involved. That’s fun, and the two now have a kid together as well.

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson

Hanks and Wilson are one of America’s favorite couples. Sure, Hanks is a big reason for that, as one of the most beloved actors ever. However, Wilson is no slouch herself, and the two seem delightful together. They first acted together in “Volunteers,” three years before they were married, and have since appeared in four more Hanks films.

Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn

We’re going back into history for one final entry. We wanted to include one classic Hollywood couple, and why not go with Tracy and Hepburn, maybe the most celebrated of them all? Tracy won two Oscars off nine nominations. Hepburn won four Oscars for acting, a record. They made nine films together, including Tracy’s final film “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?”
