Eminem to guest star as White Boy Rick in 50 Cent's 'Black Mafia Family' series

Eminem is so synonymous with Detroit that 50 Cent felt he had no choice but to cast Slim Shady in his forthcoming STARZ series Black Mafia Family.

TheWrap reported Tuesday (Aug. 17) that Eminem will portray teenage FBI informant White Boy Rick in one episode of the series but didn't offer any specific details of the 15-time Grammy winner's role.

"I'm honored and appreciative of my good friend Em for supporting my new show BMF," Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, who serves as executive producer, said in a statement. "We couldn't do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend that is Eminem."

Jackson's excitement exceeds a prepared statement, though, and he revealed that Eminem's appearance will come in the seventh episode, which 50 Cent directed and used "the same digital de-aging special effects they used" for The Irishman:

Black Mafia Family received an eight-episode series order from STARZ, as The Hollywood Reporter relayed in April 2020:

"A longtime passion project for Jackson, the drug trafficking drama is inspired by the true story of two brothers who rose from the decaying streets of southwest Detroit in the late 1980s and gave birth to one of the most influential crime families in the country. It revolves around brothers Demetrius 'Big Meech' Flenory and Terry 'Southwest T' Flenory, who together took their vision beyond the drug trade and into the world of hip-hop. The drama, per Starz, will tell a story about love, family and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream."

As of March, La La Anthony, Snoop Dogg and Serayah had been added to the cast.

The official teaser arrived in mid-July, and the series premiere is scheduled for Sept. 26.

Eminem's biggest acting credit to date—and for which he will always most prominently be associated with on the big screen—came in 8 Mile, the 2002 drama based very loosely on his upbringing.
