Glenn Close nabs Oscar and Razzie nominations for the same 'Hillbilly Elegy' role

Glenn Close has been close to Oscar glory seven different times, and she will have one more chance at this year's 93rd Annual Academy Awards.

Close will also have the rare chance at earning an Oscar and a Razzie for the same role.

It was announced Monday morning, along with the full slate of Oscar nominations, that the 73-year-old actress is nominated for best supporting actress for her work portraying Mamaw in Hillbilly Elegy:

The recognition goes with Close's Razzie nomination for worst supporting actress, announced last week. The Razzies, annually given to the industry's "underachievers," will be held the night before the Oscars.

Close's previous Oscar nominations date back to 1982 and are as follows: best performance by a leading actress (The Wife), best performance by a leading actress (Albert Nobbs), best leading actress (Dangerous Liaisons), best leading actress (Fatal Attraction), best supporting actress (The Natural), best supporting actress (The Big Chill) and best supporting actress (The World According to Garp).

Hillbilly Elegy  is also up for best makeup and hairstyling. The 2020 Netflix drama centered around J.D. Vance (Gabriel Basso) having to return to his Ohio home and grapple with generations of pain and unresolved issues involving his mother, Bev (Amy Adams), and grandmother, Mamaw (Close).

The film was directed by Ron Howard and based on true events, which screenwriter Vanessa Taylor ( The Shape of Water) crafted from Vance's memoir. It currently carries a 25% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 244 reviews.

The Oscars will air April 25 beginning at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
