'Grey's Anatomy' is bringing back yet another character for Season 18

Fans endured a lot of loss during last season of "Grey's Anatomy," but the upcoming 18th season is shaping up to be a reunion of sorts.

According to The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday (Sept. 7), Abigail Spencer is returning to the all-time longest-running primetime medical drama as Dr. Megan Hunt in a recurring role.

"Megan was last seen in season 15 (in 2019) after moving to Los Angeles with her partner, Nathan Riggs along with Farouk, a Syrian refugee she first began caring for while she was overseas. Owen’s younger sister served as a trauma surgeon with her brother, Teddy (Kim Raver) and Nathan (Martin Henderson)," THR's Lesley Goldberg relayed. "Spencer, who has worked with Grey’s showrunner Krista Vernoff on six projects, most recently recurred on her short-lived ABC drama Rebel. Together, they’ve also worked on Grey’s spinoff Private Practice, ABC pilots Grace and Introducing Lennie Rose as well as the 2015 short Stars."

Last Thursday (Sept. 2), Kate Walsh announced she will reprise her role of Dr. Addison Montgomery next season as well.

It had previously been reported last month that Kate Burton is reprising her role of Dr. Ellis Grey after the character died of Alzheimer's in a 2007 third season episode.

While Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) was in her COVID-induced coma last season, fans were treated to returns by beloved deceased characters Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Dr. George O'Malley (T.R. Knight), Dr. Lexi Grey (Chyler Leigh) and Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) as well as the still very much alive Dr. April Kepner (Sarah Drew).

The only three remaining original cast members from "Grey's" are Pompeo, Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) and James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber).

Grey's will premiere its 18th season Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
