Jared Leto was fired from a movie theater for selling weed: 'I was just an entrepreneur'

Jared Leto's relationship with movie theaters has certainly evolved.

"[House of Gucci] is in theaters, which is fun to have a film that's exclusively in theaters. I'm excited about that because I love going to the movies," the 49-year-old Oscar winner said during Wednesday's The Ellen DeGeneres Show (h/t Ellentube). "I actually worked at a movie theater when I was a kid, and I got fired for selling weed out the back door. I was just an entrepreneur!"

"You were hustling," DeGeneres added. "You were trying to sell popcorn and weed at the same time. What's wrong with that?"

"They go well together," Leto reasoned.

Elsewhere during Leto's Ellen appearance, he participated in the recurring segment "Burning Questions" and revealed his childhood celebrity crushes to have been Barbara Eden, Vanna White and Christopher Walken. He also shared that he believes he "may have lost" his fake severed head he carried around with him at the 2019 Met Gala. This came after he answered that three things that can be found in his house are the head, a guillotine ("Not gonna elaborate on that") and almond milk.

Directed by Ridley Scott, House of Gucci "is inspired by the shocking true story of the family empire behind the Italian fashion house of Gucci. Spanning three decades of love, betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately murder, we see what a name means, what it’s worth, and how far a family will go for control."

In other words, the film chronicles the events leading up to Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot that killed Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) in March 1995. At the time of his murder, they were divorced. Patrizia served 18 years in prison after her 1998 conviction.

Leto plays Paolo Gucci, son of Aldo Gucci (Al Pacino) and cousin to Maurizio. Paolo was a designer at the iconic Italian fashion house, and he had a strained relationship with his family and their company before his death in October 1995.

House of Gucci premiered in theaters Wednesday (Nov. 24). Watch the trailer below.
