Kathy Griffin's dogs adorably greet her after surgery to remove cancerous lung

Nobody is happier to see this weekend than Kathy Griffin, and nobody was happier to welcome Griffin home from the hospital than her dogs:

The Emmy-winning actress and comedian announced her stage 1 lung cancer diagnosis Monday morning (Aug. 2) and then underwent successful surgery to "have half of my left lung removed" by that afternoon:

Later that night, Griffin's Nightlinepisode aired—in which the 60-year-old was extremely candid and vulnerable about developing a pill addiction after her 2017 Trump controversy and subsequent suicide attempt last year:

Griffin provided updates as the week progressed:

Griffin detailed to Nightline anchor Juju Chang that the mass on her lung had been there "for a long time" and has been X-rayed every three years without any growth until recently when it doubled in size.

"The irony is not lost on me that, a little over a year ago, all I wanted to do was die," she told Chang. "And now, all I wanna do is live."
