Megan Fox jokes boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly 'belonged to the streets' before committing to her

Ironically, the pandemic-plagued year of 2020 set the stage for Megan Fox to step back into the spotlight.

The 35-year-old actress and model opened up to Alyssa Hardy for this InStyle profile about the gigantic toll her early-2000s fame and subsequent onslaught of misogynist scrutiny took on her.

"I was brought out and stoned and murdered at one point," she shared, referencing her tumultuous career. "And then suddenly everybody's like, 'Wait a second. We shouldn't have done that. Let's bring her back.'"

In the story's accompanying video, Fox unpacked—literally, the segment is called "Let's Unpack That"—the origin story of one huge source of her happiness these days: her boyfriend, Machine Gun Kelly, born Colson Baker.

"One of the first things I did with Colson after we did [Midnight in the Switchgrass] together, I was back here for a couple of weeks, and we were seeing each other but not dating exclusively by any means—on his end," she said when she pulled out a roll of pink duct tape from a Dior travel vanity. "I only date one person at a time, but he belonged to the streets. That's for sure."

"He asked me to do his ['Bloody Valentine'] music video, and in one of the scenes, he was totally naked in a red sauna with nothing but duct tape on," she continued. "And that was fun. And we've been in love ever since."

Fox was previously married to actor Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares sons Noah, 8, Bodhi, 7, and Journey, 4. They first separated in May 2020 before Fox officially filed for divorce last November.

Machine Gun Kelly has an 11-year-old daughter, Casie, with his ex, Emma Cannon.

With Hardy, Fox emphasized that MGK had "nothing to do" with the end of her 16-year romance and nearly 10-year marriage with Green. When Fox was first linked to Green, he was 30 years old and she just 18. Now, in her current relationship, the former Transformers star is facing criticism for a mere four-year age gap.

"You want to talk about patriarchy?" Fox scoffed. "The fact that he's four years younger than me, and people want to act like I'm dating a younger man. He's 31, and I'm 35. Granted, he's lived like he's 19 his whole life, but he isn't 19. No one would blink twice if George Clooney was dating someone four years younger. ... Four years? Go f—k yourself. We would have been in high school together. That's so ridiculous that women are treated that way."
