Megan Fox spent three days at an ayahuasca retreat with Machine Gun Kelly: ‘I went to hell for eternity’

Megan Fox had an even more bizarre story than the plot of her new horror thriller Till Death to share while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday night (July 12), and shockingly, it wasn't the fact that she sat in the same row as Donald Trump at UFC 264 in Las Vegas over the weekend.

The 35-year-old actress described her and boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly's recent trip to Costa Rica for an ayahuasca retreat that took her "to hell for eternity."

They traveled to the middle of the jungle "to do ayahuasca in a proper setting with indigenous people" somewhere that Fox labeled as the type of place famous people frequent for this sort of thing.  She was expecting an experience more like "glamping," but the reality was as harsh as it gets.

"You really are in the middle of the jungle, and you don't get to eat after 1 p.m.," she said. "You have to walk a very far distance to get your water. You can't shower because they're in a drought, so you can't use the water, obviously. You need to respect the rainforest. Nothing glamorous about it. It's all a part of making you vulnerable so that you surrender to the experience."

The process begins with "vomitivo," where the group lined up and chugged lemongrass tea until they had puked a certain amount out of their bodies.

"It's such a good bonding experience," Fox added with a laugh. "I know it sounds crazy, but that gets you ready to then go into the ceremony that night. ... So we did it for three nights. It was incredibly intense. Everybody's journey is different. The second night, I went to hell for eternity. Just knowing eternity is torture in itself because there was no beginning, middle or end, so you have a real ego death."

"It's your psychological hell, basically, is the point of the medicine," she continued. "This is medicine that goes, it surpasses anything you could do with talk therapy or hypnotherapy or any of those things. It just goes straight into your soul, and it takes you to the psychological prison that you hold yourself in, and I was definitely there."

Fox took a similar tone in a profile published last week by InStyle while reflecting on the misogynistic and unfair criticisms she has endured for the better part of a decade.

The Transformers star told writer Alyssa Hardy that she had set up her crystals and watched Jonah Hex, a 2010 action movie she was in, leading to a revelation:

"I had this incredible breakthrough, and I realized that I had been living in a self-imposed prison for so long because I let other people tell me who I was or what I wasn't. I hid because I was hurt. "That night, I stayed up and promised myself that I would never live one more day of my life from fear. I came home, and my whole life changed. I got a divorce and I started working more and doing more things. I ended up meeting Colson, and then literally everything exploded from there."

Colson Baker is Machine Gun Kelly's birth name. The couple have been romantically linked since Fox's separation (and subsequent divorce) from her longtime partner Brian Austin Green last year, and they have apparently developed an affinity for wild adventures, as Machine Gun Kelly previously told Ellen DeGeneres that their second date was swimming with sharks in Bora Bora.

Back with Kimmel guest host Arsenio Hall, Fox also discussed coordinating outfits with MGK and teased Till Death—and yes, there is another crazy story involving her relationship and filming the movie in Bulgaria. Watch the full interview below.
