Meghan Markle's first children's book is based upon Prince Harry and Archie

Prince Harry's public life has mostly centered around the relationship between mother and son, especially after Princess Diana died from a car crash in August 1997.

Meghan Markle, however, took inspiration from her husband's developing relationship with their son, Archie, for her first children's book titled The Bench.

Deadline's Greg Evans relayed context revealed Tuesday by Markle and her publisher, Random House:

"The book, with watercolor illustrations by Christian Robinson, began as a poem that Markle says she wrote for Harry on the first Father’s Day after Archie was born. Said the Duchess of Sussex in a statement, 'That poem became this story. Christian layered in beautiful and ethereal watercolor illustrations that capture the warmth, joy, and comfort of the relationship between fathers and sons from all walks of life...'"

Archie will turn two years old Thursday (May 6), and the couple is expecting their second child this summer. They revealed during their mammoth March primetime interview with Oprah that this one, a girl, will be their last.

The Bench is due out June 8.
