The best sitcoms of the 2010s

We all have our favorite comfort sitcoms that we turn to at the end of a long day. There are the obviously popular ones and some that just need to be given a chance. Of the countless sitcoms, here are 25 of the best to come out of the 2010s to watch if you haven't already.

1 of 25

'Arrested Development'

'Arrested Development'
Netflix

Arrested Development began in 2003, originally airing on Fox. It ran for three seasons and basically took a long hiatus, returning in 2013 on Netflix. Its last two seasons in the 2010s were just as funny and wrapped the series up quite nicely.

'The Office'

'The Office'
NBC

Sure, The Office was primarily a 2000s show, but the last few seasons still made an impression. The series may have lost some momentum when Steve Carell left in season seven, but it is still one of the best shows of all time.

'How I Met Your Mother'

'How I Met Your Mother'
CBS

From about halfway through season five to the series finale, which was met with mixed reviews, How I Met Your Mother was still very much a popular show. The gang's journey was one that audiences had to see until the very end.

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'

'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'
FX

It's Always Sunny began in 2005 and is still going strong! The dark comedy series has developed a large following over the years and given us some of the funniest and most memorable episodes of television.

'30 Rock'

'30 Rock'
NBC

The last few seasons of Tina Fey's 30 Rock are the definition of "entertainment." The story, cast, and incredible array of guest stars are what kept the show going until 2013. Honestly, I would have watched until the end of time.

'Parks and Recreation'

'Parks and Recreation'
NBC

We love a mockumentary-style sitcom. Parks and Recreation, starring Amy Poehler, delivered. It is a 2010s comedy series staple and was nominated for and won several awards during its run.

'Community'

'Community'
NBC

Community's ensemble cast and self-awareness made the show such a success. Although everyone was a joy to watch, Troy and Abed's friendship made it especially worthwhile. This series was obviously an award-winner, baby.

8 of 25

'Modern Family'

'Modern Family'
ABC

The mockumentaries were strong in the 2010s, and Modern Family was no exception. The show developed a devoted fan base and ran throughout the entirety of the decade, accumulating 22 Primetime Emmy Awards.

'Party Down'

'Party Down'
Starz

Party Down's presence in 2010 was small but impactful, at least enough to garner a comeback in 2023. The show is uniquely its own and features an awesome cast that was gracious enough to return to our screens.

'Workaholics'

'Workaholics'
Comedy Central

Workaholics was so unapologetic, and we wouldn't have it any other way. With seven seasons and almost a movie, the series is easily one of Comedy Central's best. I'm still hoping for that movie.

11 of 25

'New Girl'

'New Girl'
Fox

New Girl is and forever will be America's comfort show. The series is super quotable and has produced some top-quality memes. It's no wonder it has become one of Netflix's most popular shows.

12 of 25

'Bob's Burgers'

'Bob's Burgers'
Fox

There are certainly longer-running successful animated sitcoms, but Bob's Burgers is just something else. The show's clever writing and interesting characters are to thank for its 15 seasons and counting, plus a movie!

'Don't Trust the B%$@#! in Apartment 23'

'Don't Trust the B%$@#! in Apartment 23'
ABC

Don't Trust the B%$@#! in Apartment 23 deserves all of the praise and needs to be revived ASAP! Krysten Ritter is amazing in any film or TV show, and her character's friendship with James Van Der Beek added that much more to this already hilarious sitcom.

14 of 25

'The Mindy Project'

'The Mindy Project'
Fox

The Mindy Project is a charming romantic sitcom that originally ran on Fox for three seasons and was then picked up by Hulu. Mindy Kaling knows comedy, so with her witty humor combined with some heartfelt moments, you have a hit TV series.

15 of 25

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'

'Brooklyn Nine-Nine'
Fox

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of those shows that is hilarious while providing great cultural commentary. It tackles serious issues but is still, without a doubt, a comedy series. Andy Samberg is the star, after all.

16 of 25

'Broad City'

'Broad City'
Comedy Central

Broad City is a hilariously accurate depiction of navigating friendship and living in the city as twentysomething women. What originated as a web series became a successful sitcom with executive producer Amy Poehler. The show has been an inspiration to female friendship series alike.

17 of 25

'Black-ish'

'Black-ish'
ABC

Kenya Barris' Black-ish  is super funny while addressing issues that Black families face in America. The award-winning series, starring Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, produced the spinoff Grown-ish as well as a prequel titled Mixed-ish.

18 of 25

'Schitt's Creek'

'Schitt's Creek'
Pop

Schitt's Creek became incredibly popular in the US once the series hit Netflix. Canadian comedy series sure know how to do it right. Dan and Eugene Levy created an impactful masterpiece of a show and successfully introduced Catherine O'Hara to a younger audience that has come to adore her.

19 of 25

'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'

'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt'
Netflix

Another hit show from the creative mind of Tina Fey, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was a wild ride but fun. The silliness balances out its dark storyline quite well, and the cast is just oh-so funny.

20 of 25

'Fresh Off the Boat'

'Fresh Off the Boat'
ABC

We love a good family sitcom, and Fresh Off the Boat was just that. From the creator of Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and inspired by chef Eddie Huang's autobiography, the series portrays the life of an Asian American family in the nineties, offering a different perspective in the sitcom world.

21 of 25

'Superstore'

'Superstore'
NBC

Superstore was a hilarious workplace comedy with a super talented cast (see what I did there?) that kept getting better. Audiences were bummed when America Ferrera left the show, but that didn't happen until 2020, so the series remains in good standing as far as the 2010s go.

22 of 25

'The Good Place'

'The Good Place'
NBC

The Good Place, created by Michael Schur (aka the writer, producer, and creator of some of our favorite sitcoms), can be described in one word: addicting. Its use of ethics and philosophy, as well as the entire cast, Ted Danson especially, make the series incredibly compelling.

23 of 25

'Letterkenny'

'Letterkenny'
Hulu

Jared Keeso's Letterkenny is a freaking triumph with its quick-witted jokes and defying expectations of life in a small Canadian town. The series is refreshing in that the different (for lack of a better word) "cliques" around town are accepting of each other, and their banter is truly endless.

24 of 25

'Workin' Moms'

'Workin' Moms'
Netflix

Workin' Moms, created by Catherine Reitman, was somewhat of a hidden gem and not your typical sitcom. You don't have to be a mother to enjoy the series, as it explores various personal issues the group of moms face daily.

25 of 25

'Big Mouth'

'Big Mouth'
Netflix

Among the endless list of animated sitcoms, Big Mouth really stands out. The series focuses on a group of kids and their journey through puberty, but with musical numbers and, of course, "hormone monsters." Its success produced a short-lived spin-off series called Human Resources in 2022.
