The Chicago Blackhawks announced several roster moves this afternoon. Henrik Borgstrom and Jujhar Khaira are back in the Blackhawks’ lineup.

Henrik Borgstrom

Henrik Borgstrom was away from the Blackhawks dealing with a non-COVID illness. The NHL postponed multiple Blackhawks games this week after COVID-19 ravaged the league. While this was unfortunate and untimely, the Blackhawks did get several extra days to become healthy as a team.

Jujhar Khaira

Khaira took a nasty hit on December 7, courtesy of Jacob Trouba. Chicago placed him in the concussion protocol and he’s been healing since. The team speculated that Khaira would make his return on January 1 against the Nashville Predators. It appears that his recovery timeline is going to be met on schedule and he will indeed play this Saturday.

Blackhawks Recall Two Players

The Blackhawks also brought up two players from the Rockford Icehogs. Alec Regula and Josiah Slavin are back on the Blackhawks’ roster, sort of. The team assigned these two players to the taxi squad, likely as a part of the ever-changing navigation of the league’s COVID-19 procedures and policies.

Alec Regula

Regula appeared in three games so far with the Blackhawks in his career, but only has 37 minutes of ice time. The defenseman is a -1 in those three games.

Josiah Slavin

Slavin, who’s played in nine games for the Blackhawks this year, is back on the team’s taxi squad. He’s played just over 100 minutes of hockey and recorded one assist in that time.

The Chicago Blackhawks take on the Nashville Predators on New Year’s Day. This will be their first game in about two weeks since the NHL shut down.
